Today we’d like to introduce you to Diego Reyes.
Diego, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’m a portrait photographer based out of San Diego. I got into photography about two years ago when my friend let me use his Canon 7D to do some landscape shots, realized landscapes weren’t really my thing, so I started contacting old high school friends to try out this whole portrait thing & well I’ve made it this far. Throughout these two years, I’ve met the most amazing people in this community & even started working with Drenick “@hellodrenick” for The Portrait Culture.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I like to consider my work as just something simple, I’ve always told myself that simplicity is key not just in my real life but also through my photos. I like to create portraits that still catch my viewers attention but not because I’ve added things into the photo or I had to travel to a cool location to take the photo but by just showing emotion in the subject’s face or body. The message I want the audience to take from my photos is that something so simple can still be beautiful
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
As an artist, I believe success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it. If you see yourself becoming successful in the photography community, I believe you should use that success to bring others up with you.
