Art & Life with Joycy Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joycy Wilson.

Joycy, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’ve always been a creative individual. If you are given something good you want to share it with others. God has given me the gift and talent to create something special for other people.

Photography has given me the opportunity to just do that exactly. I’m capturing one’s excitement, tears, and details of their day. I get to experience the same thing but behind the lens. It’s a win, win for both of us!

I want my work to show that joy we both experienced. Joyful images for both of us to look back and relive that moment all over again.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a wedding and family photographer.

I create prints of joy for families to relive those emotions they had that day.

I want people to know that life is about smiling and being joyful. I want them to have a smile on their face as they look back through their photos. Or seeing a portrait of their kids on the wall and realizing how big their kids have grown. I want them to be able to appreciate the little things in life through a picture.

Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
There is a lot of creative people and a lot of talent out there. The competition is tough. I mean there’s so many great artists all over the world it’s like how are you going to stand out? You just need put yourself out there with everyone else. If you keep focus and remain consistent with your work and yourself its easier for one to accomplish much more than if you focus on what others are doing. You need to pour yourself into your work.

A way to show support is to display their work. Interviews like this one. Sharing that spotlight with another artist.
