Art & Life with Khofa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khofa.

Khofa, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
At an early age, I was introduced to a variety of music because my family loved listening to music. Music gave me the ability to express myself creatively. A majority of the songs I’ve written are actually about things that I’ve personally experienced and overcome. Something that makes me unique as an artist is, I often talk about things that are real to me. For example, my first project, “One Day At a Time”, I talk about losing friends to violence, losing family members, and just going through the process of life, day by day, to become successful. But I think that because I rap about things that a lot of people can relate to and have experienced, we have that connection.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a San Diego based artist. I make music and the reason why I create music is because it gave me an outlet to express myself and tell my story. A lot of the music I write are actual things that occurred in my life and with this platform I hope to spread the message that there is someone out there that has experienced or is experiencing the same thing you are so you are never truly alone and that it’s okay to reach out if you need someone to talk to.

In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
A lot of the time, those who gained attention and a following started off with going viral from being problematic. Very rarely do people actually give artists who just want to share their music and their story a chance. Nowadays, it’s about giving a platform to those who would bring in money due to their current popularity.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
Everything from my music, videos, more information on shows, merch, and any updates, you’ll find on Simply listening to my music, coming out to my shows, and copping merch are some ways people can show support.
