Check out Ana Ituarte’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Ituarte.

Ana, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I started as a kid making up characters for my favorite cartoons, copying landscapes from puzzle boxes, bodies from anatomy books, and faces from magazines. My “reproductions” got increasingly accurate as I poured myself more and more into it and from this my visions of art became easier to translate to paper and I was able to create my own places and faces.

At the same time my father is a Graphic Designer and since I was young I helped him in projects and he always pushed me to take over the “family business”, however I never found joy in this. I’ve explored art through so many types of work in the art industry, and it wasn’t until I started learning about Tattoo Art that I found the art form that aligned with my being the best.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My art has always been inspired by the unique; unique environments, unique faces, unique practices, unique styles. However, as a Tattoo Artist I’ve learned to put my unique twist into someone else’s vision, and ultimately this is what Tattoo Art is, interpersonal art, and it celebrates coming together to create something beautiful and meaningful.

How can artists connect with other artists?
I believe that being an artist the best way to learn is by collaborating or apprenticing with better artists than yourself. Networking is highly important, and you can always reach out to an artist you admire, most of the time they will be happy to give you advice, to work with you, or even just talk! There are also great groups on Meetup that get together for live art sessions, and this will help any artist both get better and network.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can see my work online on Instagram and Facebook, as well as at the shops I work at in Chula Vista and Tijuana.
