Check out Chelsea Rae’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Rae.

Chelsea, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Ever since I can remember art has been at the forefront of my mind. All I have ever wanted in life was to live, breathe, and create art. I love art in all of its forms and guises and what it can offer not only for the viewer but for the one who has created the work. For me art has brought a way for me to express myself when words have failed me, it has brought refuge and a sense of sanity, and it has provided a way for me to connect with not only myself but with those around me.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Photography has always played a very monumental role in my life and ever since I can remember I have felt compelled to capture and create whenever inspiration hit. Inspiration for me can be brought on by many things and I find a great joy in discovering it in the little things in life that usually go unnoticed or are passed over with just a quick glance. I am highly observant and fascinated by my surroundings and all the nuances that occur within and around them. This usually includes color and the way it plays into its surroundings, the way the light hits something in just the right way, all the shapes and forms that make up our world, and in people watching. I find people to be truly fascinating but I like to take an outsiders perspective when it comes to capturing them, I want it to appear as if you are viewing something that is organic and real and unguarded. For me that usually means I will take photos of the people around me while I am out doing my day to day activities, at a museum, a concert, and traveling to new and unfamiliar places. I try to always carry with me some type of camera because chances are I will stumble across something that strikes me in such a way that I will be compelled to capture it. This isn’t always the easiest of tasks because within the blink of an eye the opportunity has passed and has just become another moment lost in time and space. With that being said I hold dear everything that I am able to capture because I was able to witness something that was truly incredible and that is the very act of living life.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
I think success is being proud of yourself and what you have created. It’s being excited for being able to go out and do something that gives you a sense of purpose and then being able to share it with others. I feel the most important thing with success is important to stay humble and grounded and true to who you are as a person.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
