Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Chain.
Christopher, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born in Santa Monica, California. I’ve lived in Southern California all my life. I moved to San Diego in 2010 and loved every minute here since then. I first started taking photos on my phone and cheap point-and-shoot cameras.
I remember when Instagram first came out and seeing photographers and images on there and said “I want to take photos like that!” I bought my first DSLR and my passion for photography took off. San Diego has beautiful beaches and landscapes so taking photos of that came naturally. I then started getting into more nature and Wildlife photos because I love to be outdoors.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I love to do landscape and nature photography. I live very close to the zoo so I ended up visiting quite often. I soon became part of the zoo’s photography group. If anything, I hope people can enjoy the beauty of the earth through my images. From the beautiful beaches of San Diego to the rare snow leopards of Asia, enjoy the beauty of Earth.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Practice makes perfect. Get out there and shoot! In the Art of Photography if I could say anything to new photographers is always have your camera with you and take lots of pictures. Don’t be that person that says, “Ah, I wish I would have brought my camera with me!”
