Check out Delete Insert’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Delete Insert.

Please kick things off for us with some background on the story.
Delete Insert first started as a solo project by Jonah Cardenas and then later became a band. I (Jonah) have been playing music ever since I was six and starting in 2015 I started writing my own music. I would record separate parts in my garage with just a handheld recorder with two mic inputs. Some songs I would start with a drum part and other songs I would start with guitar. It all depended on the song. After a couple of years, my buddy Jacob Antonelli wanted me to perform a show, but at the time I was writing and doing all the music alone. So, I hit up some friends who were capable of playing the music and ever since it been a band.

We’d love to hear more about your music. What do you do? Why? And what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Our music is objective, and we create based on what we feel at the moment. Us souls in the band are not very into the material world and are much more rooted into our feelings and what goes on inside ourselves. We make the music for ourselves and no one else. If people dig it and love what we are doing, then that’s amazing, but we don’t create for other people. Our main goal is to open people up to a different sound. We are an instrumental band, and we want people to learn that you don’t need vocals to make you feel a certain way when you listen to a song. We want people to think on their own and have their own perspective when they hear a song by us. We don’t want to conform people into lyrics and make them feel what a vocalist is presenting. We want each soul of a person to feel and think on their own.

The stereotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
Money is nothing. If you have a passion or a talent, throw all of your money into it. Financial concerns are a societal problem and not a human problem. Do what makes you happy even if there is no money involved because, in the end, the only thing that matters in this world is if your passion is giving you happiness. Whether it takes decades to “make it” you’re still putting in work into your passion, and you will only get better. If I’m poor because of my passion, at least I will be happy because I am inspiring people.

Do you have any events coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can see our work through our band social media such as Instagram (@deleteinsertband), Twitter (@insert_delete_) Soundcloud, and Spotify. We also have a website ( A local boy named Jesse of Old Towne Productions also has a couple shows he filmed of us on Youtube. Just look up Delete Insert Band. The only support we want is for people to listen. That is the only support that is needed.
