Check out Gloria Chadwick’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Chadwick.

Gloria, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
As a native San Diegan, I spent many hours at the San Diego Zoo learning as much as I could about wildlife. I began college as an art major but ultimately obtained my RN. After a late shift, I entered a Starbucks/San Diego Zoo contest to design a tumbler and debit card to raise funds for conservation. I won and that did it. After not painting for 30+ years I was excited to get back behind the easel and brushes.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My business card says Fine art Fun art and that’s me. While I am serious about endangered species and conservation I also look for the humor in life. I did a series of the rear ends of animals that viewers thought was funny until they learned that the animals are vanishing, leaving us forever. There is a story in my paintings.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success is when you feel you have presented what you intended. Art is subjective. Some will rave about a style that leaves others cold. Artists leave a part of themselves on the canvas. Artists learn to accept rejection as a tool to move on and explore more.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Currently, I have The People’s Choice award painting at the San Diego Watercolor Society at Liberty Station. Also a painting for the Mt. Helix show at Nainsook Gallery in La Mesa, three paintings at the Bonita Museum PleinAir air show in Bonita and 2 paintings in the International Ornithological Congress mural of endangered birds in Vancouver, Canada
