Today we’d like to introduce you to Gustavo Munoz.
Gustavo, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
My photography story began with the loss of my best friend; my bulldog Odoyle Rules. After he passed away I sorted through a few old photos of him and it made me realize that I had to capture amazing memories for people to look back on and enjoy as well.
I started with landscape photography to get used to my camera, and it seemed that a few people took a liking to my work. Then I moved onto portrait work and I fell in love with the ability to freeze an amazing moment in time. I truly enjoy helping others so they too will have a lasting memory. Whether it’s a solo portrait or a couple’s portrait it’s an amazing feeling that motivates me to being a passionate photographer.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I’m a passionate photographer that tries to capture a moment in time with the natural beauty around us. My goal is to give people a piece of art that they can enjoy for a life time. I really enjoy using off camera flash when given the opportunity to make my clients stand out, but not lose the beauty that surrounds them. In addition, I hope my clients end up with wonderful memories of special time in their life. I want my clients to remember my work. Whether it be portrait work or a landscape portrait, I truly try to capture a moment that may bring them a good feeling of a time or place.
Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
It is tough for photographers now and days. There are many artists doing the same type work, and the only way to stand out above the rest is through constant social media. I believe that San Diego is a great place for an artist. The city truly embraces artwork and has many art shows, because of this reason I feel very lucky to be a part of it.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
At present time I only have a website and my Instagram to display some of my work. I have in the past done small art showings, I just have been busy with photo shoots and spending time with my small family.
