Meet Mariami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariami.

Mariami, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born in Europe, in the Republic of Georgia. I moved to America in the early 90’s when the Soviet Union collapsed. My family fled the war. I grew up in New York and graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a minor in music from Berklee College of Music. The early part of my career was spent in New York City, I recorded and released three projects on the East Coast and moved to Los Angeles recently to begin the next chapter of my musical journey!

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My art is my heart! Whatever is happening in that space converts into music. The message and inspiration varies but mostly it orbits around making ordinary things as beautiful as possible. My earlier childhood was filled with War and demanding transitions as an immigrant, so how I worked and moved through that as a teenager and young adult got seasoned into my music. My palette and choices as a musician reflect my upbringing, which is immersed in Georgian Folk, Soul & Jazz. I create with any tools I have!

Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
I think it’s become incredibly diverse, abundant and beautiful. So many lanes, so many ways. Pick a vibe and thrive haha.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
