Check Out Crystal Romo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Romo.

Hi Crystal, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a beauty artist with a heart FULL of wanderlust. As a makeup artist, I get to connect with people in creative and meaningful ways. I’ve also been an employee with American Airlines since 2019. My work as a flight attendant has given me the opportunity to get to witness so much of the beauty this world has to offer. Fusing the two, I get to experience a variety of cities and connect with clients across the globe.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Paraphrasing Steve Jobs, it’s easier to connect the dots looking backwards. As for many artists, my path has twisted and turned but I always see life as opportunity to learn & grow. I think we can all say that the adjustments of living in a pandemic world have been plentiful and I’ve had my fair share. It makes the times I’ve been able to connect and collaborate that much more meaningful.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In my 15 years as a makeup artist working with brands such as Lancôme and Benefit Cosmetics, I have developed a reputation for making my clients feel at ease while using bold colors to highlight their personality. I love a statement look and never shy away from a playful expression. I’m most proud when I see the look on my clients’ faces when they see themselves in the mirror and the confidence that my service provides to whatever they’re walking into. Additionally, my keys to the sky offer me the flexibility to follow my clients on exciting adventures.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I would not call myself a risk-adverse person. If there is a situation where there could be a favorable outcome, I’m often one to jump in and say “let’s do it!” The most macro risk I’ve taken recently is moving back to New York City in May 2021. I love this city and the industries that thrive here and I’m invested in making it my home base.
