Meet Nelle Luis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nelle Luis.

Hi Nelle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My interest in becoming a PMU artist started when I got my very own eyebrows micro bladed. I was obsessed with microblading and how “natural-like” it looked. I took my first microblading class while living in Arizona, but after doing a few clients on my own… I felt as if it wasn’t for me. After ombre powdered brows started getting popular, I decided to give it another chance… taking a powdered brow class here in San Diego. Six months after I took my first powdered brow class and moved here to San Diego, I decided to dive right into the industry. I love what I do and all the beautiful people I get to meet!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. This industry is booming with so many great artists and I have fallen into the mindset of “why am I not as good as these other artists.” I just take it day by day… practicing, shedding a few tears and telling myself that “Hey, if it doesn’t work out, at least I tried.” Two years later, I’m thriving and absolutely loving this industry and the artists who inspire me to be as great as they are. Not to mention the wonderful people I get to make feel beautiful!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a permanent makeup artist specializing in powdered brows, lip blush and saline tattoo lightening/removal. I am most proud of making it thus far, despite some obstacles I have had to overcome and the growth and progress I have made.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I’m very introverted and I always have mini anxiety attacks right before the client comes in for their appointment. LOL! But as soon as the client walks in and I start working, I feel so at ease and home. There’s something so soothing and therapeutic about holding that tattoo pen.
