Check Out Robin Plotnik’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Plotnik.

Hi Robin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Being in the fashion industry for the last 15 years, the big question was, “what do models eat?” What started as a hashtag eight years ago became a passion for me. I knew I loved nutrition but never looked at cooking with an artistic eye. I began plating my food with care and putting my “strange but good” toast combos out there for everyone to see.

After two years, @WhatRobinEats has become more than an Instagram full of food, there is a community that has grown through healthy breakfasts, comfort food hacks, and fitness events. I am also a mom of two, Poppy and Wylder! I love creating quick recipes for other mamas to make with limited time. @WhatRobinEats followers enjoy my #CauliOatsLikeRobin cauliflower oatmeal bowl recipes and look forward to my weekly #ColdBrewLikeRobin coffee posts each Friday. @WhatRobinEats is a place for people to be inspired to live a healthy lifestyle through fitness and eating food that’s sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think if your job is on social media, there is bound to be bumps in the road. People have their own opinions and they are not afraid to express them over the internet. The biggest lesson I’ve learned while building What Robin Eats is that not everyone will like you and that’s OK. Being myself and sticking to what I’m passionate about makes What Robin Eats fun for me and I look forward to creating content every day!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
COLD-BREW AND CAULI-OATS! Ok, maybe not strictly those two things, but I do believe my strange but good combos play a big role in drawing traffic to my page. When I first started What Robin Eats, I noticed my #ToastLikeRobin photos received more engagement than any other photo. I love “strange but good” combos and there’s no combo that does not taste great on toast! Because of this, I took my recipes over the edge and added ingredients that not everyone would think to use. I added cauliflower to my oatmeal because I wanted to add more veggies in my life but didn’t want to eat them savory. Now, after three years of doing this, I launched my ebook, Cauli-Oats Like Robin! It’s filled with 18 recipes, cauli-oat bowls and bakes, and I give so many ways to alter them to your desire. You can find this ebook on my website, WhatRobinEats.com.

What sets me apart is that my audience can come to my page and expect to see user-friendly recipes that are sure to please any crowd. My goal is to make cooking healthier options fun and doable for anyone. You don’t need to be a five-star chef to make your meals and they require minimal ingredients. Like my #ColdBrewLikeRobin recipes, you don’t need a fancy coffee shop to make fun, creative drinks. My spin-offs on popular coffee drinks are usually filled with better-for-you ingredients as well but taste just as decadent. I also share a lot of nut butter syrup drizzles on top of pancakes, French toast, and waffles. Never enough nut butter in my opinion!

What makes you happy?
Feeding my family! I didn’t know how fun and heart fulfilling feeding a family of four would be until I experienced it. I never dreamt of being a mom and cooking all day when I was younger but now I can’t imagine my life any other way.
