Check out Rachel Matonis’ Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Matonis.

Rachel, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I guess you could say that photography found me. My love for it began after I had my first child. I began wanting to document all those precious moments with my baby, because I knew they were fleeting. So I got my first dslr and learned everything I possibly could. I spent the next couple years bettering my craft and here I am today!

Photography has taken me on an amazing journey that I would have never expected to be on. I love my job and have so much fun capturing memories for people that will stand the test of time.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am wedding and portrait photographer who loves natural light and candid moments. When you look at my work I want you to feel the love and life behind it. I strive to capture real emotions and the beauty of little everyday moments that make up our lives. I believe everyone has a story and when I’m behind the camera, it’s my job to tell it.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
It’s too easy to compare yourself to others, especially in the age of social media where everyone seems to have it together. In reality, social media just is a highlight reel, not reality. Too often we easily get sucked into the rabbit hole of comparison, which in turn affects our work. I think to be able to stop looking around at what everyone else is doing, and using your unique gifts to fuel your work, is an essential characteristic for success. To me, success is being able to serve people by using my gifts.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I am all over social media, mainly Instagram, and I have a website as well.
