Check Out Scott Dickerhoof’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Dickerhoof.

Hi Scott, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My career started in the early 1990’s working for my uncle, who was a custom remodel general contractor in the Monterey- Carmel By The Sea area of California. We worked on building custom cottage style homes and other remodeling projects in the area. I then moved to Palo Alto, CA where I worked as a project manager for a general contractor specializing in custom high-end remodels. Soon after, I got my California state general contractors license and met my wife, Michelle, on a blind date gone good.

In early 2001 we moved to Seattle, WA were married that summer. I quickly got my general contractor’s license in the state of Washington and business took off in the great northwest. We had enough rainy days and in 2013 decided to sell our home, pack up our two kids Nathan and Grace and head south to move back to sunny California to be closer to family. Our final destination was San Diego, where I was fortunate enough to have an existing client from Seattle who decided to move to La Jolla almost at the same time, where we could instantly pick up our business almost immediately. We are still trekking along with our family business eight years later, with a heavy focus on client relationships and the highest quality details on each project. We have projects in Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Solana Beach, La Jolla and Rancho Santa Fe.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With any business, there are always struggles. In construction, finding honest, reliable, like-minded employees/subcontractors are the biggest challenges. Our philosophy is, with every problem, there is always a solution. Eight years later, we have a great crew and fantastic support team of employees and subcontractors we work with.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Pacific Blu Construction is a family-owned construction business that specializes in custom kitchen and bath remodels, additions and new construction. I manages the front-end of projects, client relations and day to operations, Michelle handles the back-end of the business operations. We are known for our dedication, loyalty and determination to complete each project 100%. We are also known for treating our clients fairly and giving them upfront honest pricing and explaining to them the details and the day to day operations of the project. We embrace helping our clients learn and teach them along the way of each project. We are always accessible to our clients, just a text a-way to put their minds at ease. We take pride in receiving Best of Houzz in 2017, 2018 and 2020 in “Service” as we have 25 -five star reviews! We are mostly proud of serving our community. Over the years, we have sponsored recreational soccer teams at our local Del Mar-Carmel Valley Sharks Soccer Club and this year, during the Covid-19 pandemic, we donated hundreds of thermometers, hand sanitizers and goals to the Recreational Program.
