Check out Palapalooza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Palapalooza.

Troy, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as a creative professional. What is Palapalooza?
Palapalooza podcast was created solely to support the amazing San Diego music scene. Being in bands off and on for 20 years, Troy Cook has always had an interest in music and decided to take his efforts in supporting the scene a step further with Palapalooza (founded in 2018).

We’d love to hear more about your work and Palapalooza. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Palapalooza features a different musician/producer/personality every week (episodes released on Wednesday on all digital platforms). We chat with them for a bit to get to know them and their musical background, and then have musicians perform 2 to 3 songs unplugged. We are already up to 40 episodes and have featured Unwritten Law, Aviator Stash, Mainsail, and many more amazing local talents.

The sterotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
I have always made it a point to not allow money to obstruct my passions in life. Some are more and less fortunate than myself in regards to finances, so this question is a little tough to answer. I think that passion exceeds all; If you are passionate, love what you do, and have a natural talent, you will gain attention. Never give up! Always keep a certain percentage of your attention on your ultimate goal.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can listen to all 40 Palapalooza episodes at http://www.palapalooza.com and on all digital platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, Podbean).
