Community Highlights: Meet Jennifer Du Bois of Organized by Jen D

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Du Bois.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I’m the Owner of Organized by Jen D, a professional organizing company here in San Diego.

I am originally from the Virgin Islands. I moved to San Diego in the 90s and, except for a few years in the late 90s, I have lived here ever since. I am a mom, wife and a new grandmother.

Supporting others to realize positive change is my superpower! I’ve done so as an educator, leader, nurse, and now as a professional organizer.

I recently celebrated my 1 year business anniversary and I am excited by my business’ growth. I am serving clients through on-site and virtual organizing services.

I get inspired by the transformations, of not only the spaces that I organized but by the impact my work is having on my clients’ lives.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting and growing any business comes with challenges. As we are all aware, the pandemic presented an entirely new set. Health and safety concerns continue to take priority for me and my clients. So, I’ve implemented practices that align with safety and health standards. In addition, I recently added virtual organizing to my service offerings.

My journey has not been smooth. I have learned a lot of lessons along the way – some good and some were very difficult to experience. However, I believe every experience was necessary.

As you know, we’re big fans of Organized by Jen D. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
First of all, thank you!

I started Organized by Jen D one year ago. I was a stressed out professional working with other stressed out professionals. I managed my stress through sound self-care practices and wanted to find a way to teach others to do the same.

Organized by Jen D was founded on the idea that living and working in an organized environment is essential for mental, emotional and physical well-being. Essentially, it is a form of self-care.

I work with my clients to organize spaces in their homes and small business to help them reduce stress, and free up the time and space to live more meaningful lives.

I am most proud of of the growth my business has accomplished in the past year. I do acknowledge that it has been limited due to the pandemic, but it has been steady. I also find joy and motivation from the feedback I have been getting from my clients. One client told me that I “was truly doing a ministry”. . . that really touched me.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Professional Organizing, as an industry, has been around for years. It was made more popular since the recent Home Edit Netflix series. There was also a surge in interest as individuals began spending more time at home because of the pandemic. The word is getting out… being organized is an essential self-care practice! I believe you will see an uptick in the trend towards virtual organizing as well, especially internationally.
