Community Highlights: Meet Olga Auclair of Olga’s Closet

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Auclair.

Hi Olga, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Since I was a little girl, I could remember watching my mom and aunt creating beautiful home crafts. From tailoring outfits to designing jewelry, I grew up always wanting to be a part of the crafting world. Olga’s Closet has given me the opportunity to do just that, while reaching the lives of others who share the same dream.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles I have had was to have a large enough space to keep up with the demand needs. I started Olga’s Closet from my spare bedroom closet. I quickly discovered that the need for quality knit fabrics was highly sought, I started to grow rapidly and transformed my home to Olga’s Closet. I worked out of our living room, dining room, and our garbage. This too became overtaken by fabric so we had to rent out several storage facilities. We continued to grow so I moved into a 1350 sq. ft. warehouse but learned very quickly we would outgrow this space as well. I gave ourselves 6 months to try to make it work but knew I would need to find a larger space.

I recently moved into a 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse which is now Olga’s Closet headquarters. I am so excited to be able to offer our clients high-quality knit fabrics so that they can grow their businesses and/or sew for their families.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Olga’s Closet is a family and friend owned business. I thrive on assisting everyone from sewers and crafters from all backgrounds along with hobbyists to other small business owners like myself, turn their passion into a livelihood. My goal is to offer hard-to-find knit fabrics at affordable prices, all without skimping on quality. Every piece of fabric we carry I have personally hand-picked with pride. Each piece is truly important to me as I know it will reach a family’s home one day as a beautifully crafted masterpiece

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
What would surprise some is that I absolutely love classical music and used to play the clarinet. I had dreams a teenager that I would one day be part of an orchestra.
