Community Highlights: Meet Timmie Standridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Timmie Standridge.

Hi Timmie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
About eight years ago, I was returning to San Diego after leaving a corporate job that felt as though it was draining the life out of me. I had moved up to the LA area from San Diego to try and jump into the kind of job I thought I was “supposed” to have. I was starting to feel lost, and my lifestyle choices were not great. I was staying out late, drinking more than I should have been, and chalking it up to being in my 20’s.

I finally took a step back and looked at myself and decided the first thing I was going to do was take care of my health. Look good, feel good, do good -kind of thing. I hired a personal trainer, changed my eating/drinking habits and entered a fitness competition. I trained hard. I was fully committed and I saw incredible results. These results were not only on my body but in my mind. I felt like a completely different person. The confidence and energy this new lifestyle gave me was absolutely life-changing. I wanted other people around me to know how that they could feel this too. I decided to go back to school and start the Fitness Special Program. I started personal training shortly after that and then eventually started the mobile gym and online coaching company, TSF, that I have today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting your own company can be challenging, but those challenges are also what makes it so rewarding. You have to make sure you always have enough clients or you don’t pay the bills, right? In the beginning, there was a lot of free work and slow weeks. I would host free bootcamps, and sometimes even then, no one would show up. But as long as you stay consistent, the business will grow, especially in an industry that relies so heavily on consistency. I bartended for many years while I was still getting TSF up and running. I would work until 3 am at the bar and then wake up early to train my clients. That lack of sleep was not always easy, but it paid off.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
TSF is a wellness company specializing in weight loss programs and mobile gym services in the La Jolla area. I offer group classes each week as well as one on one coaching. My 12Wk Program is the most popular service I provide, in this program you receive weekly exercise programming, nutritional guidance and daily/weekly check-ins with me. This is a weight loss program that has been proven to work time and time again. I am so proud of the hard work and dedication my clients put in, and I am constantly inspired by them each week.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I don’t know that there is much my clients or friends don’t know about me, I am a pretty open book. I spend a lot of time with my clients and so we get to know each other very well. I guess maybe that I can be hard on myself too. I struggle with body image like many of us do, and I understand the mental hurdles it takes to get to where you want to be. I had to change my lifestyle severely to get to where I am. It is not always easy for me, but I’ve created some habits that serve me well, and that Is what I am trying to teach.
