Conversations with the Inspiring Britt Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Britt Thomas.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I moved to San Diego almost two years ago from Arizona. I have a miniature dachshund named Daisy, who I love very much! I am the oldest of three girls and was raised by parents who have always accepted me for who I am.
In my free time, I enjoy being active, listening to music, watching movies, or spending time with friends and family.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road for me to say the least, but I take each setback as a lesson and have used those lessons to build myself back up as an even stronger-better-version of myself. Those struggles included abusive relationships, financial scares (being broke), not getting a job I wanted, moving to a new state and starting over, etc. My advice for other women is to take the time to figure out what it is you really want. Do you want a high profile career? Do you also want kids? Because you might have to pick between your job and your family depending on how much you make (paying for full-time childcare). Spend the time to figure out what makes you happy outside your job and relationships. For me, it’s yoga. No one can take that from me.

What should we know about your business? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I currently teach yoga and pilates and do airbrush tanning. I have been an airbrush tanning artist for the past seven years. I enjoy it because I love meeting new people and providing a service that helps them feel better about themselves. Same goes with teaching, I love connecting with my clients and hearing their stories, their struggles, and building a community of people who are looking for a deeper connection with themselves and their purpose.

I also have a blog called Modern Gypsy Dream, which is referring to my lifestyle. I have had corporate jobs where I worked a 9-5 and had benefits, but for me personally, I never felt fulfilled. I have realized in the last ten years that I don’t need to be like other people and I can have five different jobs that are all things I ENJOY doing. Some people would be stressed from my lifestyle, but I prefer to have a different day every day, and so I choose to work multiple jobs in different industries to provide variety to my week.

Pilates – Barre Body (PB)

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
The most important piece of advice I could give someone starting their career is don’t get lost in the money. Stay true to your beliefs and values, and if you start to make more money try not to let it change you. There is more to life than having a high income.
