Conversations with the Inspiring Catalina Andrade

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catalina Andrade.

Catalina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Since a child, I was curious about philosophy, metaphysics, meditation, religions, herbs, essential oils. At 10 years old, I was reading many non-fiction books in the themes above that helped me understand that the world was much bigger than what I saw, but at the end, we were connected as human beings with the same necessities. At 21 years old, I received my certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner and lost my mother, due to diabetes complications, at the same time. Taking care of my mother and looking at all the things she had to go through was what inspires me to create a healthier lifestyle for me. I have always been very passionate about holistic lifestyle. Even when I went back to achieve my bachelors (English degree) and masters degrees (Organizational Leadership) and worked in the corporate world, I still practiced my natural holistic lifestyle. Co-workers used to come to me for advice on natural wellness. Finally, on August 30 of 2018, I left my corporate job at the county, to start my own business: Whole Bella. I created Whole Bella to empower women to create a healthier lifestyle for them and their families. I am so happy that I am able to bring together my 20-year holistic health experience with my Masters in Organizational Leadership that goes into a mindset and this way truly supports women to find the root of their health issues. I also love to give back to my community and through Whole Bella once a month I offer a free wellness class at our National City Public Library. Also, every month, I offer various events that teach and inspire women to take care of themselves to be able to take care of their loved ones. Each month you can find from meditation groups, women circle to special events and a yearly Self Love Retreat.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a business is never a smooth road. I personally had no experience in running a business, but I know my why, my why is to inspire other women to be healthier and to not give up on their dreams. Yes, it is hard sometimes. Just changing my employee mindset to a business owner mindset is hard. Continuing education on business and surrounding myself with other business women in my own way of getting inspiration. My advice to young women who are starting their business to have the dreaming of one day having their business is to go for it. The perfect day to start your business is the day you decide to do it. Understand your why, your mission. You are going to need this as a reminder of why you started your business when obstacles appear on your road. But never, never give up!

What should we know about Whole Bella? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Whole Bella is the place to learn how to create a healthier lifestyle the holistic way by embracing body, mind and emotional wellbeing. I always look at each individual as one and unique being. My specialty is in Emotional Healing and looking at the mindset that is not serving you anymore, plus I incorporate quartz, singing bowls, breathwork, and essential oils to my therapy. Going to the root of the physical and/or emotional troubles is the best way to eliminate those unhealthy cycles we tend to create throughout our life. Knowing that I am supporting women to find the root of their physical or emotional problems and that I am supporting them with their healing journey is something that makes me stay passionate about my work. Still at Whole Bella, we have various classes and events that teach you about clean eating, meditation, and essential oils.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I think that by supporting each other women can thrive. Instead of competing with each other, women have the natural instinct to work together and enhance each other as friends. Women are great at creating communities with love and care. This is the difference in our female energy leadership.
