Conversations with the Inspiring Christelle Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christelle Jones.

Christelle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a writer, blogger, fully human with a desire to allow others to be fully human as well. I have always been a deeply feeling person. Growing up, like many, I was never taught, told nor allowed to feel the emotions that make us human. Essentially, I learned to put on a mask and fake my way through life. To put on a smile and pretend. Yet, to be fully human, we must learn that it is healthy and good to feel fully. To hurt fully. To grieve fully. To experience both joy and loss fully. We must learn to process every feeling and allow others the same.

Today, I have a desire to share my story so that others will know they are not alone in theirs. I believe that by sharing stories, humanity is awakened to the truth that we are all more alike than different. In this way, we become who we are created to be. We begin to see others the way they are created to be. We are love. Created to love, walk in love, and to share love with the world. We are family. My heartsong is to share my story and to listen to the stories of others.

Currently, I write my process, my story of love and loss. I write my story as I learn to forgive and to let go. My prayer is that in sharing my story, others will find healing, freedom, and be reminded who they truly are. We are powerful people with the ability to make powerful choices that influence not only ourselves but our sphere of influence and beyond. My goal is that love will always be my guiding force. I am in the process. I am learning. I share what I learn through writing.

Has it been a smooth road?
I have been told on many occasions and through various avenues not to share my story. I shut my blog down for many years, essentially shutting off an essential part of my healing process. Just this year, as I moved my family into a safe space, I am in a place physically and emotionally to share my heart. My advice is to surround yourself with powerful women who love you fully, who speak truth into your life, and who want you to become who you are created to be. We are created to be healed and whole so that we can walk in joy and share love with the world. Surround yourself with growth-minded women who want to grow themselves and want to see you grow. Surround yourself with cheerleaders! Who we surround ourselves with is who we will become. Further, we all have something to teach and learn! Be in a continuous process of learning daily. Read, go to workshops, engage in life empowering and encouraging heart to heart discussion. Cry. Laugh. Pray. Meditate. Look up! Smile, Remember who you are! Remind others who they are! We are love. Created to love and to share love with the world. We are family. Let’s be healers, forgivers, and speakers of life! We are learning and growing together.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into your business story. Tell us more about the business.
I have been told I’m eclectic. I would have to agree.

First, I blog at This is where I share my heart, my story. I write my process of healing from abuse. My hope is that others will know they are not alone. I stayed silent for too long and silence only enables abuse. My goal is to be more vulnerable while creating a safe space for others to be as well. Further, I write my process of learning to be fully human, to feel, to love, to grow, and what I’m learning in this season.

Second, I am a foodie in search of San Diego’s best hidden gems. As a native San Diegan, I have a love for supporting local businesses and restaurants. I do this by promoting both through my Instagram @sd.hiddengem and twitter @sdhiddengem. Further, I have found community, support, and love throughout San Diego’s foodie community, small businesses, and locally owned restaurants. Listening to stories, sharing stories, I’ve experienced the best of San Diego County in this way. San Diego is family.

Finally, I work for one of the most phenomenal non-profits in San Diego: Traveling Stories. The mission of Traveling Stories is to outsmart poverty one book at a time and to inspire a love of reading to children. We have StoryTents set up throughout San Diego County where we teach money management skills while building relationships with children through our reading programs.

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
I’m obsessed with growth mindset books. I have a stack in my room, ready to be read. Love Does and Everybody Always by local author Bob Goff are must read. Podcast: Super Soul Sunday. I love to hear healing stories of transformation from people that represent all of humanity.
