Conversations with the Inspiring Hannah Menor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Menor.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Being a San Diego native, I always loved being part of this beautiful city!

After graduating from high school, I attended cosmetology school where I learned my love for color and even more for people!

I’ve been with Disconnected Salon my entire hairstylist career, going on 8 years! I’ve grown so much and learned so many things and continue to learn each and every day!

Instagram really got my career going though! I’ve found my “nich” in the hair industry. I LOVE COLORS!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I definitely have not had the easiest time making my way through the industry! You have your great days and then you have your days where you rethink your entire career and what else you may be good at!

I’m a mother of two beautiful boys! Being a full-time mother and full-time hair-artist is tough! Only taking TWO weeks off after having my second son, just to go back to work, I think shows just how much I am dedicated to my craft and love for it!

People will always try to bring you down EVERYWHERE is what I’ve learned. Some people just don’t have that drive for themselves so they don’t work hard for it. But my advice is to always work hard and never give up. I always tell my boys, NEVER GIVE UP. If you try and don’t succeed, try again.

If you reach a dream, think of a new dream and keep growing!

what should we know about Hannahdisconnected? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in hair color. Any color you can think of natural, blonde, rainbow, purple, pink etc. You think of a color and I’ll do it!

I’m proud of the companies I work along side with in the industry, Pulp Riot being the hair color company I use and LOVE. Colortrak being the tool company I use and love as well!

I feel that I have an eye for the colors I do. And I really do love to execute a look for a guest and have them leave extremely happy! I take the time to really learn the person and not just have them tell me they want blue hair. I love learning my guest’s personality and what would fit them best!

Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
I’m inspired by numerous women in my life! My hairstylist growing up, Ruby Devine, really started that fire in my soul for this industry and I still see and talk with her all the time. She’s amazing!

My mentor and salon owner, Sarah Renne, was a huge inspiration to me as well! I worked with her for just over a year and she’s taught me so many things in this industry that I will hold with me for the rest of my career and life!

My mom and my sister, of course, have been inspirations to me, too! They’ve helped me through a lot of hard days and have celebrated all the great ones with me as well!
