Conversations with the Inspiring Holly Dargavell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Dargavell.

Holly, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My passion for hair began as a little girl. I remember teaching myself how to braid on my barbie dolls and playing salon with my cousins. After attending beauty school, I assisted for a little over 2 years for Zina G. I can’t thank her enough for all the knowledge she shared with me as well as all the other talented stylist in that salon. While assisting, I was also able to work behind the chair part-time and began building my clientele. About a year ago, I felt like my passion for hair wasn’t 100% being fulfilled so I started dipping into the wedding industry. I knew the day my first bride look in the mirror and then turned to me thanking me with a huge smile and tears in her eyes I was completely fufilling my dreams as a stylist. I then set out to create my bridal business HD Beauty. There is just something so special about being choosen to be apart of such a special moment in a woman’s life. Growing my business to where it is today, hasn’t been easy and it didn’t happen overnight, but I’m so glad I never gave up and continued to have faith that God would continue to help me use the gifts he blessed me with.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Building my business didn’t happen over night. I worked a second job when I first started and didn’t have any days off. I was exhausted a lot of the time, but I kept pushing because I was following my dreams. I had to take many leaps of faith and trust in the lord. Everything thing I did to get me to where I am today has been 110% worth it!

All the young women out there who are just starting out surround yourself with others who are going to encourage and push you to be better. Let go of that voice inside your head that’s telling you, you can’t and prove anyone who doubts you wrong! You’re not doing anything for anyone else but yourself!

What should we know about HD Beauty? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m a hairstylist at Salon Radiance where I cut, color and style hair. I love working with blondes, but I also love creatinga natural sun kissed lived in color. My style of cutting is also soft textured and freeformed. I also Just started my bridal business HD Beauty where I specialize in soft, romantic whimsical hair styles. I believe that anyone can show up and do hair. I want to show up, do hair, and leave the memory of unique experiences

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I believe that is what is wrong with our society today we are so focused on what challenges we are faced with and having this victim mentality. We as women can overcome anything we dedicate our time and energy on. I think we as women should be more focused on uplifting one another and supporting each other to pursue whatever it is we’d like to accomplish. I wish the media would be more focused on all we have overcome as women how many bad ass boss babes there are in the world today!
