Conversations with the Inspiring Kelsey Prince

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Prince.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kelsey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I like to say that Blonde and Butter has been in the works since childhood. I’ve always had a passion for writing and knew from a young age that writing would always be part of my life!

I’ve had quite a few blogs over the years just for fun, but found my beat after spending a summer in London as a digital marketing intern. That summer, I worked during the day, traveled on the weekends, and ate and drank way too much the entire time.

After I came back to the States, I couldn’t stop trying new foods and experiences. I decided I needed to document my new life as a foodie, and thus, the Blonde and Butter blog and Instagram was born!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I definitely experienced some bumps in my blogging journey, but most were caused by my own indecisiveness. Before choosing Blonde and Butter as my brand, I went through several name changes on several blogging platforms. I wanted my website and social media platforms to be absolutely perfect, which meant lots of changes early on.

While I don’t regret any of the changes I made, it would have been helpful if I would have reached out to other bloggers for advice before getting started. Of course, I started the blog over six years ago, and there are a lot more resources available to bloggers now!

I’d encourage any young entrepreneurs wanting to start a blog or social media presence to join a blogging network, Facebook group, or to just reach out to your favorite blogger and ask one million questions before getting started.

what should we know about Blonde and Butter? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Blonde and Butter in the simplest terms is a food and lifestyle blog, delivering food porn from San Diego (and beyond) straight to your eyeballs on Instagram.

That said, I like to say Blonde and Butter is like an onion (ya know, layers… Shrek… ok I’ll stop now). Under the food porn, you’ll find San Diego hot spots, travel recaps from across the world, life advice, relatable millennial content and, oh yeah, a LOT of posts about online dating.

Food and writing are two of my biggest passions, but comedy is up there too, and if you’ve dated in San Diego at all, you know the scene is ALL comedy. Every time I put out an article about dating, working or life as a 20-something, I get an outcry of support and that’s something I’ll always be excited about!

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
I am sort of a self-help fanatic, so my list of inspirational resources is long!

My favorite books that help me do my best in life are: The Subtle Art of Not Giving an F*** by Mark Manson, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and Daily OM by Madisyn Taylor.

My favorite podcasts are The Lady Gang, The Gary Vee Audio Experience and The Daily Refresh.

I’m also a big ASMR fan, which confuses most people. Look up ASMR videos on YouTube if you haven’t already and be prepared to either love it or be weirded out!
