Conversations with the Inspiring Kristi Warwick

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristi Warwick.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
This should be the easy part, right? Growing up, I was always obsessed with fashion, style, and trends. I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising with a degree in Fashion Marketing. Sadly, I pushed away my desire to stay in the Fashion Industry and went with the “safer” option of working in sales. After many years of contributing to other’s success through my knowledge in marketing and sales, I decided to follow my heart and open a boutique. I had been following along with the trend of shopping online and decided to solely open Nobella Grace online.

Once my decision had been made, I grabbed my sister and we headed to the Fashion District in Los Angeles. We then took the first pictures of her apartment in LA with her as my model. I then created my website, all my social media accounts and on the first day, we launched my sales were beyond what I could have ever imagined. We have since included a home line, children’s line and I have even designed tees specifically for Nobella Grace.

Fast forward four years later and our growth still surprises me every day. My sister has since opened a shop for children @shopholigrace on Instagram and we collectively opened up an accessories shop that focuses solely on sunnies. We are @sunniegrace on Instagram. I am most proud of the amazing tribe of women at Nobella Grace who supports one another and welcomes all the new Mermaids as we are known along the way.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I will be completely honest, the hardest struggles have been keeping up with the growth. We have had explosive growth the first two years and then steady growth in the next two years. I feel so blessed to be able to proclaim that but the road has not been all paved in gold.

Four days after I opened Nobella Grace, my husband went out surfing by himself (not uncommon, we live 2 miles from the beach and he has surfed since he was a young boy). About an hour later, I received a weird call from him, he had been in an accident surfing. We were not sure if he had broken his neck or exactly what had happened, we found out, he did suffer a Traumatic Brain Injury. He ended up spending months in brain rehabilitation.

At that point, my first thought was that I should just shut the business down, right now was not the time to take away the focus on my family (we have 3 children) and taking care of my husband. Luckily, I did not listen to my fear, I rose above it and decided to put my anxious energy into the business. By taking my fear-based energy and turning that around into positive energy that I pushed into my business, it no doubts helped propel Nobella Grace to where we are today.

what should we know about Nobella Grace Boutique? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are an online women’s boutique that features a beachy, boho style. Nobella Grace is a strong tribe of women who lift each other up and share styling tips with one another. I feel honored every day to be able to wake up and experience life with these amazing women all while bonding through the love of clothing. We are most active in our VIP Facebook Group, make sure to join us. I also offer personal styling sessions online and in person.

With my success at Nobella Grace, about 3 years ago, I was contacted to start working as a Marketing Consultant. Thankfully, with the growth of Nobella Grace and being able to hire a team to help me with my shop I have been able to continue to help other entrepreneurs grow their businesses through website design and social media strategies.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
If I could give one piece of advice it would be to make sure your heart is truly in the business not just for quick money. Many people look at other’s success and believe that it is an easy road, it has many peaks and valleys and takes a lot of work. I easily worked 80 hour weeks the first year plus that I started Nobella Grace if you are not 100% passionate about your business for the right reasons people can also feel your inauthenticity.
