Today we’d like to introduce you to Lecey Paredes.
Lecey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Since I was a child, I always had a very entrepreneurial spirit. I always dreamt of starting and owing my own business, but never thought it was possible. After working for several corporate companies, I felt like I was settling instead of pursuing what I was really passionate about. So, I left my last job and used my savings to start planning in November of 2017. I truly believe that I am where I am today because of my willingness to do whatever it takes without fear or intimidation. I also believe that my faith in God has carried me to where I am today as well. Inspire Dope came from a place that I knew all to well. As a teen and young adult, I struggled with my self worth and my identity. I am grateful that today I no longer struggle with that mindset because of my now relationship and faith in God. I started Inspire Dope with a passion to inspire women and men who struggle with self worth, identity, insecurities, low self esteem, self doubt, and fear. I am passionate about creating our daily messages on the apparel, on social media, on the blog and emails that I hope will impact our audience’s mindset in a way that will boost their confidence and add good energy to their day, and hope for their future!
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting Inspire Dope has been a smooth road so far. Other than the fact that I am a wife, a mother and own a trucking business as well, I have to be very disciplined with my time. Huge shout out to my husband and my mom for being the support system I need to pursue my dream career. They both help me so much! Money is also a factor to growing the business. I am glad I had a savings to invest in my business and I continue to reinvest what my business profits back into Inspire Dope.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Inspire Dope story. Tell us more about the business.
I currently run all of our business endeavors, website design, design of the apparel, social media, content strategy, promotions, emails, literally everything except for photography. I have many years of office administrative experience. So, staying organized I know all too well. My husband and I also have owned our trucking company for two years. So, we have learned a lot about running a business. Honestly, learning to delegate is crucial to the life and breath of building a business. I definitely know the importance of delegation and I hope to one day have a great team next to me and bring dope employment opportunities to our community. I am most proud of the brand’s message & quality apparel. I definitely believe the mission and our message is what sets us a part from other brands. I think there is a space that Inspire Dope is currently filling that doesn’t currently exist. I think the idea of using fashion with statement apparel to inspire, empower and spark change is what sets us apart. While also building a community around that mission and message.
Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
My advice to the young women starting their career is to work hard and don’t give up. Plan, set goals and manage your time wisely. Go after what you love. Don’t settle for a career for the money. Find what you are truly passionate about and go after that. When you are passionate about your career and love what you do it doesn’t feel like work. If you feel like you don’t have enough skill or experience there are so many educational tools online to learn and develop from. Don’t be intimidated about what people will say or think, they are merely opinions.
