Conversations with the Inspiring Mia Valdez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Valdez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Mia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I entered the online world of business in 2018. I had been working at a very demanding work-from-home 9-5 job, my husband was deployed, and I was still commuting two hours a day so that I could drop my 3-month-old son at daycare!

I knew that I needed a huge life shift, and I discovered freelancing. At first, I thought I’d be great as a general admin virtual assistant – which was a huge mistake! Why I thought I could organize someone’s email when my own inbox has 23k unread emails is beyond me! Still, this allowed me to quit the 9-5 grind, and stay at home with my baby!

During the last year and a half, I have quickly discovered that entrepreneurs had a need to show up on a platform that I LOVED – INSTAGRAM! From there, the entire trajectory of my online business changed. I knew that I needed to be talking more about this tiny platform that creates a MASSIVE impact!

Has it been a smooth road?
Becoming a freelancer, and now an Instagram coach, has been one of the most beautiful, amazing, BEST things that has ever happened to me – but it’s also been one of the most difficult, challenging experiences I’ve ever had in my life.

A lot of my struggled stemmed from fear. Fear of failure, fear of what other people would think, fear of imposter syndrome – what if someone realized that I really had no idea what I was talking about!

I had to learn to lean into the fear. I had to learn to embrace the possibility (in all honesty, the very reality!) that I could (would) fail!

For anyone starting their journey today, I would tell them to just start. Recognize your fear. Know that it’s valid. And then do it anyways.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I teach mama entrepreneurs how to create an authentic social media presence and grow their business through organic engagement. I teach mama entrepreneurs to bring the joy back to social media, by reframing the mentality around Instagram and using it to build a tribe and community.

We are set apart because… we believe we are stronger together, and we believe in the power of relationships over the power of likes & follows. We believe in showing up, being real, and staying authentic, and we believe in the social of social media!

I am most proud of creating a community of women that truly does believe those things and actually lives by them in their online business presence!

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
