Conversations with the Inspiring Sara Roberts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Roberts.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and moved to San Diego 6 years ago. I didn’t always know that I wanted to be apart of the beauty community, however, I did know that whatever career path I ended up strolling down it had to allow me the ability to be creative while impacting others in a positive and beautiful way. While living in San Diego I met someone who was attending Paul Mitchell The School San Diego. She encouraged me to go check it out and to take one of the school’s tours. I never looked back.

While attending school my love for the Beauty Industry grew. I quickly realized that this is what I had been missing, and what I was meant to be doing. After graduating in May 2017 I began my Professional journey at an upscale salon in Hillcrest, Richard Joseph Salon. I gained knowledge, experience, clients and important contacts working there, which then led to my current Salon as Manager/Stylist for Lock & Key Salon in Kearny Mesa.

The growth that I’ve experienced and the professional relationships that I have developed in the past year continue to fuel my drive and passion to be the best version of myself every day. Life is short, the world is wide, and the days are long, and if I could spend the rest of my life making smiles and touching the hearts of others through my art, I’d say I did this thing called life right.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I feel like the road of discovering yourself is never-ending. Through my journey, I’ve hit all kinds of highs and lows. Through each low, I gained strength and understanding of myself. I was a lot stronger then I gave myself credit for. Sometimes its a lot easier to see our flaws than all of the incredible yummy goodness we have living within.

Looking in the mirror and saying how beautiful, capable, strong, and worthy you are may seem silly but girl its necessary! One thing I do believe to be true is every moment of doubt, sleepless nights, or failure that I experienced was all worth it. I appreciate my victories and those around me who have helped my growth so much more because of the struggles I faced and still deal with sometimes.

what should we know about @Sirahdoeshair Lock & Key Salon? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I love doing all different services! If I had to narrow it down though I’d say that I specialize more in Men’s grooming and Blonding! Balyage, Highlighting, Fades, Tapers, those are kind of my jam!

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
Don’t let others steal your shine! You have to remember your “Why”! Stay the course and always be YOU! You’re the only you that the world has and we need you to be the best you! You deserve it!
