Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Brimmer.
Sarah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been a huge fan of fashion over the years. From the time I was little, I remember loving to dress up.
I feel like personal style is really a way of expressing your personality, and how you feel through what you wear. There’s nothing I love more than wearing a pair of jeans, t shirt, and sneakers one day, to a jumpsuit with heels another.
I started Suddenly Scooter (named after my childhood nickname) because I wanted to share my daily outfits, personal style, and beauty tips with likeminded women. I love fashion bloggers, I follow so many already for inspiration! Thats the best part. I also feel like the fashion blogging community is really encouraging and supportive.
I launched my own blog a couple of months back and I feel like its taught SO much in such a short amount of time. Taking a leap of faith and going for it can be so scary, but it’s made me more confident and driven than ever before. I really love blogging, and I can’t wait to learn and grow with my blog and my friends who have followed along!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, I struggled the most before I actually launched. I contemplated blogging for nearly a year, mostly because I was struggling with the thought of putting myself out there on social media. I actually work in marketing full time, so more and more I knew I had the knowledge to bring my thoughts to fruition, but social media can be a scary place. People are mean and hide behind a keyboard with the intent to bring others down, but the more I tried posting and putting myself out there, I found these incredible connections with women just like me. I realized the juice is worth the squeeze so to speak, and focus intently on the positive as opposed to the negative. I also realized that while trolls seek to bring people down, I can do just the opposite with the voice that this has given me.
So far, I have not regretted it once. I feel more and more confident every day, and in a strange way, it made me feel 100% myself. Its quite liberating and empowering, and I encourage any woman, any person, out there on the verge of pursuing their goals, to just DO IT! We often place limitations on ourselves based on fear, and when you can crush that, the fear is gone. It becomes excitement mixed whit a whole lot of nerves, and it’s a great feeling!
What should we know about Suddenly Scooter: Fashion, Beauty and lifestyle blog? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I work full time in dental marketing by day, fashion blogger by night. My goal in creating Suddenly Scooter was to share my creative outlet, my outfits, with other like-minded women. I’m a girly girl with a free spirit, and I think that’s reflected in my daily outfits. It’s so fun to mix trends and classics, high and low fashion, I love it all!
My favorite part of personal style is creating who you want to be each day. Some days are a little more tomboy than glamorous, but that’s what makes you, you. I love having the opportunity to share that with women that are doing the very same thing.
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
I think the biggest obstacle in the fashion blogging industry for aspiring bloggers is the perception that it is over saturated and brainless. Don’t get me wrong, anyone and everyone can be a fashion blogger with enough dedication and consistency. However, I truly believe there is something for everyone and it takes some SERIOUS dedication and creativity to succeed in blogging. Go for it anyway, because at the end of the day if you believe in yourself, that’s all that matters.
