Conversations with Andie Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andie Johnson.

Hi Andie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Queen Bee Floral Designs was created from my love of nature and all things beautiful, at a very young age, I can recall creating bouquets from my grandmother’s garden. My first part-time job in high school was at a flower shop in Huntington Beach CA, years later I was creating wedding florals for friends and family and some 25 years after Queen Bee was born.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We are a very small boutique business operating from a home-based studio. Struggles that come to mind are pricing accordingly! I’m guilty of lovingly putting 110% into all of my designs and I tend to go a little over the top when I find that most special flower that I have to use!

With the Covid pandemic, I was able to fit in one wedding January of 2020 and unfortunately for my brides and grooms, most of the bookings I had for 2020 were either postponed, canceled or very much smaller than originally planned.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a boutique floral studio located in the hills of Jamul, CA a real hidden gem of San Diego! I suppose I’m known for my very organic and natural style of design.

I love that I’m able to walk out of my front door and use natural elements like eucalyptus, tree bark, succulents and whatever I may be growing in my garden at the time.

I create florals for weddings big and small and all other special events.

I put 110% in every event regardless of the price!

I’m most proud of the love and thanks that I receive from my local community.

I give away a ton of leftover flowers from weddings and holidays, I set out buckets of flowers on the corner with a free sign and post to my local FB group and they come.

In swarms with smiles and thank yous!

I’ve made a lot of great connections by sharing the love.

How do you think about luck?
I feel I’m a pretty lucky person overall. I believe in karma and treating others with respect and kindness. It all comes back to you in the end❣️
