Conversations with Jocelyn Rhyder

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jocelyn Rhyder.

Hi Jocelyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Jocelyn Rhyder, and I am a content creator. I am always exploring creativity through digital art. Graphic Design is my profession, but helping others is my passion. The Content creations community is made to help impulse entrepreneur brands with their projects, branding, and social media identity. I am a Co-owner of a clothing line called Edgynlux. And I have my own accessories line called J accessories. I know the struggle it might be to start with a vision in a business and based on my experiences and my knowledge in graphic design I discovered that I Love helping others.

I work as a graphic design freelancer and I create logos and branding identity for new business projects. However I don’t only help with making their branding I also teach Photoshop courses where you can learn Photoshop from zero step by step with my help. Teaching has made me really learn how much I actually love Photoshop and how much I really know about it.

I am excited to mention that I will soon graduate with my bachelor’s degree in video production. I love being behind the camera as much as I love to be in front of it. The whole struggle of filming is just fun for my end. My biggest dream is to become a digital nomad and to be able to work from any part of the world. That is the reason why I chose this career. Honestly I couldn’t be happier, this is meant for me.

You think this is it for me? Of course not!

I love to learn new things all the time and the more areas I reach the better. Since I love digital creation and also entrepreneurship I have been thinking of continuing with my career path and taking a master’s degree in digital marketing.

I hope that this plan works out and I truly trust myself that this path is what makes me happy.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been quite difficult finding what I really wanted to do. I was in school for a communications degree when I found out that it wasn’t really what I wanted. Or at least I wasn’t learning what I wanted to learn. I would take many courses such as journalism, TV broadcasting, Radio conduction and more. However it didn’t fulfill me to the max. I knew there was something out there that would make me feel at my greatest, I just had to work and find it.

I then found out that I wanted to change my career but had a difficult time finding what career I wanted. I remembered that back in 2017 I started a YouTube channel for travel blogging where I really enjoyed filming and editing videos. I thought why not only be in front of the camera but also be behind it.

I started looking for new schools that offered these types of careers and when I found Platt college San Diego my life changed. Video production was what I really wanted. I loved what they had to offer for me and I really enjoyed my time there. I never thought that going to school would be that fun!

In order to get your bachelor’s degree you had to obtain an associates in graphic design first and because of that I discovered the world of graphic design and I fell in love.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Based on the obstacles I have had throughout my career and finding my vocation I learned that money is not the most important thing in life. What really matters is how happy you are doing your job and what you love!
