Conversations with Linda Fagrell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Fagrell.

Hi Linda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My interest in the creative fields has always been present, having a full career in Architecture. In 2016, I started designing and creating jewelry. The hobby started as gifts for family and friends and grew to weekly markets. Thoroughly enjoying creating, working with my hands and selling to customers, the hobby developed into a business with the Linx by Linda entity, which led me to participate in annual specialty events/art shows and showcasing in small retail boutiques. Some favorite events included La Jolla Art & Wine Festival, Solana Beach Fiesta del Sol, Carlsbad Crafter’s Showcase, Mission Viejo G&G Holiday Show, Carlsbad Street Faire, Santa Barbara Old Spanish Days, Sunset Beach Mother’s Day. During the pandemic, I developed a website to continue selling online. I am happy to be returning to events but online and custom orders and personal requests are still welcomed. Visit my website to see a sampling of products, my events schedule or shop online!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The largest growth and struggles I had were finding the right events to participate in. I found certain demographics appreciated my products more than others or certain hosts of events were more successful in getting a successful turnout. It also took a while for me to find quality materials for my products. For example, I went through several generations of magnetic clasps for my leather bands before I found strong magnets in a good-looking clasp. I either tossed or gave away products that didn’t meet my standard. This initially cost me, but I am glad I kept a high standard so my products remained high quality.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I learned early on that I would focus on working with leather and gemstones. I quickly realized there was a need for accessories for men and they loved the high quality, European leather, handcrafted bands. Today, my leather bracelets/bands for women and men are my most popular products. The variety of colors, patterns, and styles impress my customers the most. But offering sizing from XS to XL gives options for all!

What matters most to you?
Quality and customer service matters most to me. I only create with quality materials. Leather and clasps are imported from Europe (Italy, Spain and Germany). I also guarantee my products, so if any repair needs to happen, within reason, I am happy to repair.
