Conversations with Megan Allen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Allen.

Hi Megan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started social media as a safe place to be myself, and put my hobbies/interests out in the universe. As an introvert growing up it was hard to feel comfortable sharing my interests, so social media was a place where I could post whatever I wanted and if people were interested, they could engage with it. Throughout the years I have been blessed to build a community on my socials who are interested in similar things to myself. I have been able to make so many friends and work with so many amazing brands throughout the years of pursuing social media. During the pandemic, my accounts skyrocketed, and Instagram pushed my content onto their explore page. Today I am continuing to do what I always have, posting about what makes me happy (health, fitness, the beach, etc). I just want to be a positive light in a world that is often overwhelmed with negativity.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, I was never searching for fame or notoriety from social media. My biggest thing was always just being myself, and loving what content I was creating. A lot of friends I have in the social media space like me tend to get stuck on numbers. They often come to me for advice about how to make their posts gave a greater reach or get better engagement. The truth is that the social media algorithms sucks for pretty much everyone right now. Instead of getting discouraged by the drop in engagement, I just feel blessed that I am able to have the platform that I do and how far I have come.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So, I recently just got hired at a company I LOVE LOVE LOVE. I have always been the type of person to want to be passionate about what I am doing. In the past, I have gotten stuck at job positions that completely killed my mental health, and just made me stressed to be there. For that reason, for the past year or so I had social media be my full-time job until I found something that stood out to me. I am currently three semesters away from graduating with my bachelor’s of science degree in business with an emphasis in marketing. BUT I was able to just land a job position as an executive assistant at Freedom Rave Wear. A sustainable and ethical fashion brand that offers unique styles for music festivals. I feel extremely blessed to be getting the experience from this new position while I am still in school working on my degree. I have only been with the company for a few weeks now, but have already learned so much and am getting to do what I love every day! Along with my new job I am working towards getting my NASM personal training certification. I will hopefully be able to take clients within the next few months and help people become a healthier version of themselves. 🙂

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
YOU CAN’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO ANYONE ELSE. Everyone is on their own path/journey. Your journey will never look like anyone else’s. It is okay to go at your own pace and be proud of your accomplishments.
