Conversations with Natalie Brekka

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Brekka.

Hi Natalie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I jumped into the blogging world right out of college in 2016. I originally set out to be an interior designer and studied that for three years but ended up switching to communication, where I really learned how to market myself and any potential business I may start.

When I started blogging, it wasn’t nearly the field it is today (influencer wasn’t even a term used to refer to people in my field then) but I knew it’s what I wanted to do, so I treated it like a full-time job from the very beginning, before I even made a penny! As social media and “influencing” became a full-blown career path, I was able to work with brands and companies I loved, create an online community and turn it into my own business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely was not an easy path of growth for me and my business. I kind of took the slow and steady path and struggled with trying to give this job my all while not getting anything in return for a long time. That being said, I’ve learned so much along the way from teaching myself everything I know about this business and how to grow it!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a social media content creator and influencer and mainly focus on fashion, lifestyle and home. I would like to think I’m known for being real, down to earth and showing not just the glamorous but also the behind-the-scenes and unfiltered parts of my life and being in this industry! I also share a lot of affordable options when it comes to both fashion and home and always want to be sure I’m catering to all of my audience, not just those that can afford the pricier items.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’m so thankful for the community of content creators that I’ve become friends with both in-person and online. It really makes a difference to have others in your field you can relate to the struggles in your career path, bounce ideas off of and be great friends.
