Conversations with Rocky Acosta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocky Acosta.

Hi Rocky, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I was living homeless on the streets here in San Diego for 12 years. I got to the point in life where I asked GOD to save me from my bleak existence of begging, scorching in the mid-day sun, and having nothing all the time. Since my prayers were answered I was a forest firefighter in LA County for 3 years. After coming back to San Diego where I was raised, I started working as a house mover where I became Manager and still manage Awesome Movers to this day. I bought Heavenly Yogurt in 2021 when the previous owner was looking to sell and retire. I now am blessed to employ people, when I for many years was not employable. Heavenly Yogurt to me is the opportunity to give back for all that was given to me in GOD’s Grace.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road leading up to owning Heavenly Yogurt has required dedication and hours on hours of work to get to this point. It was not easy but with fortitude and the ability to remember every step forward and obstacle; is better than one day homeless with no direction.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As owner of Heavenly Yogurt, I do my very best to make it fun for the community. We are not a franchise so our suppliers are who we choose for the best flavors. We are always happy to take suggestions on flavors to bring in as “Flavor of the Week”. Voting’s and suggestions are done on our Instagram @heavenly_yogurt. We serve Froyo, and Acai bowls of all flavor bases. We have dairy-free options and No Sugar Added options. I would go as far as to say our flavors are the best and very heavenly to the taste buds.

What’s next?
Looking forward to growing to other locations. Making Heavenly Yogurt a common pit stop for those looking for a relaxing cold treat.
