Conversations with Sevahna Anderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sevahna Anderson.

Sevahna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As an Advanced Certified Fragrance Specialist ( say that three times), I had been in the Fragrance industry for over 17 years & 10 of them with Nordstrom. Scent is very personal and to create something that you are inviting into your home; it must evoke a feeling of magic.

As that little girl that collected flowers, dried leaves, and rainwater to make her own potions & perfumes; my admiration for nature and scent has bewitched me for as long as I can remember.

When Wolfe + Juniper started, I had imagined something that would be magical, unique, personal, a little witchy, and brought a smile to your face. I wanted to bring the art of storytelling through scent.

Every candle poured is a piece of Art. You can smell the late nights after putting my son down. Some say you can smell the 1 o’clockin the morning LOVE. Everything is poured in small batches to ensure quality. Every wick is 100% organic cotton from a small supplier. Everything is environmentally  sourced from other small and local businesses.

When I was invited to be in my first store in North Park, The Gold Dust Collective. This store welcomed me with open arms and inspired me further create more of my witchy candles. Everyone that works here is amazingly talented and very supportive. That store is magical!

The second store, I was very excited! I get to be in my favorite part of the town of Ocean Beach. Vervor Shop is home to over 200 Local Artists and I am one of them! Aaron has created a space for supporting the dreams and passions of Local Artists. His shop is colorful, thoughtful and full of energy.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I started in 2019 and had to pause because I got pregnant in the middle of a pandemic. And starting a business at this time had many obstacles. I had absolutely no energy to give after working 8hrs on your feet, wearing a mask & growing a human at the same time?!

Supplies were insane as there was a glass shortage, wax shortage, warehouses closed or not staffed. Expenses skyrocketed. It was frustrating but if I was going to do this, I was going to do it right. I just needed to slow down to see where this path was going to take me.

So with the blessing of my friends & my partner, I quit my stable beloved job and never looked back. My partner took on being the main income of the household. This was scary at first with a newborn but eventually we figured it out.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Wolfe + Juniper is about capturing a moment in time that you cannot put your finger on. We use Certified Clean ingredients that are safe to burn around children & pets. We grab your attention with our witty names and you can really smell the magic. I am really focused on my Mommy duties and growing this business to its full potential.

Also, I started an amazing side project!! Voltaire Street is on the North side of Ocean Beach and is the home to many Artists, families, and some great yoga studios. Growing up here, I always imagined a focused Art Scene but never saw one. The pandemic really pushed people to discover their creative side. I wanted to create a space that was family-friendly that welcomed Artists & Makers. I went to Aaron, the owner of Vervor Shop to ask his thoughts on getting something like that started. When he said Finally! I knew this was something I could create. We talked to local businesses up and down Voltaire. And with a list of supporting businesses to let us use their space to host, Voltaire Art & Makers Walk came to life!!

Seeing this vision come to fruition is incredible. The community has been very supportive. The comments from other parents have been the most heartwarming. Their kids feel inspired and want to take an Art class or find a way to be involved. We are creating relationships with our neighborhood and with other Artists by giving back to these Local businesses.
