Conversations with Stacie Struble

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacie Struble.

Hi Stacie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey as a wedding photographer about 7 years ago. Growing up in Oregon, there was always a lot of natural beauty surrounding me, and I feel the most connected to this craft when photographing couples outdoors. Being witness to couples experiencing a beautiful place together for the first time, or re-visiting their favorite place feels really special and intimate to me, and it’s honestly one of my favorite things about what I do. I also love meeting so many people, hearing their stories, sharing their jokes, and being able to commemorate all of that for them in a meaningful way.

I moved to San Diego at the beginning of 2022–I’ve lived in Oregon all my life and needed a change of scenery and climate! I’m so excited to be here!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
You’ll probably hear this a lot–but being creative means, you like creative things. It usually doesn’t mean that you get excited by spreadsheets, math, rules, and structure. Starting the actual business side of my business has been the hardest thing in the world. There’s so much to know and things to stay on top of, and even when you think you’re doing everything right, you eventually learn that there’s something you were supposed to be doing the whole time that you weren’t even aware of! It can be really frustrating, but it’s also been pretty rewarding too!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in weddings and engagements for couples who like to have fun, don’t take themselves too seriously, but still want gorgeous photos that tell their story.

I’m proud of how many guys have said “that was actually kind of fun” after an engagement session they were “forced” to go to.

You will find me outside when I have free time, and this habit finds itself in my work. Many of the couples I work with want photos in adventurous places and I’m always more than happy to take them there!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the proximity to the ocean and the warmth! I haven’t been here long, so I don’t have much else to offer here. It seems like a diverse place full of interesting people and forward-thinking businesses, so that’s exciting!
