Conversations with the Inspiring Jo Placencio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jo Placencio.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
First & foremost, I’m a dedicated mother to my son, Danté. They say you never understand a mother’s love until you become one yourself, and they were right. Danté is and always will be the brightest light shining in my life. My first and always true love. Being his mother has been a pure blessing in my life.

In my personal life, I’m career-focused and in an amazing relationship with my soulmate, Chris. We’ve been coined a “twin flame” which means we’re connected not just on a physical and emotional level, but also on a spiritual level. Looking back on my path, I know that everything has been entirely laid out for my life.

I’m in love with life and all things peaceful, loving, and glamorous. In my spare time, you can find me enjoying every moment possible with my son, spending time with my family, in the gym with Chris, trying the newest restaurants, shopping, decorating our beautiful new home, or out with our friends for a glass of wine! We also enjoy spending time with our fur baby, Spartacus, who we rescued as a puppy. He’s the sweetest, most loving Chihuahua and we’ve been so blessed to enjoy him for the past three years!

I’m a true lover of positivity & good vibes. My closest friends & family would explain me as the happiest, most positive person – because I want life to be that way for others and I know that by reflecting that personality into the world, I’m spreading that same love of light. Positivity is contagious, and I think we should all be sharing it in the best way possible – which is why I decided to design Peace, Love, Glam.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No definitely not. My road can best be described as an unpaved road with lots of potholes, dead ends, and unexpected turns. At 22 I was suddenly a single mom with literally no one to rely on or nowhere to turn. I left my husband, took my child and set out to somehow make it in the world. This is no exaggeration of the truth. I had no plan, no money, and no job. I had to figure out how to feed and cloth my baby. It was quite scary, but I had to do what was right for me and my child. That entailed leaving my marriage and “figuring it out.” My advice to young women just starting out would be to tell them that they are more than capable to compete in the world. Nobody is trying to hold them back or down. When you go out and pursue what’s rightfully yours the universe will always provide. I never for once doubted my self-worth as a woman or as a person. I always knew I had value. That attitude kept me constantly improving my circumstances and made me who I am today. I know the power of my thoughts always dictates the reality of my life, so I’m always aware of my “self-talk”. I’m never a victim of my circumstances; I’m the creator of them.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Peace Love Glam (Blog) story. Tell us more about your blog.
By day I work in pharmaceutical research as a Senior Clinical Research Associate. Currently, I’m working on CNS (Central Nervous System) studies, and due to the sensitivity of these studies, I cannot elaborate any further on them. I will say that my work is for the greater good of mankind, so that makes me feel good on the inside. My passion, aka baby, is Peace Love Glam. PLG is a lifestyle blog that is the premier resource for all things soulful, fashion, fitness, clean beauty, wellness, and glam. I love to motivate, help and inspire people. Helping people become the greatest version of themselves is so very gratifying to me. It provides me a lot of happiness to know that I’m helping others especially when they contact me and let me know how much my blog posts inspire and help them. Giving back is something I take very seriously, and it really feeds my soul. What sets me apart from others is that PLG isn’t just about me and what I’m doing. A very small percentage is dedicated to Jo. My main focus is on fashion, fitness, spirituality, clean beauty and wellness for my readers. Providing useful information and uplifting messages is the cornerstone of PLG. Again, it’s about helping others rather than promoting me. I want to help dress the world and uplift the world all at the same time lol.

Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
Joy Mangano is one of my biggest inspirations. You probably have heard about her in the movie Joy, played by Jennifer Lawrence. If you haven’t seen the movie, it’s really a must see. Joy is one of my biggest inspirations because she was a woman who literally came from nothing and created an empire all on her own. I don’t think I can leave off Oprah 🙂 nothing more needs to be said. Last but certainly not least, Gwyneth Paltrow. Goop is a behemoth. She really created a very special site with Goop. Of course, her celebrity helped but make no mistake, her hard work and hands-on approach are what propelled it to superstardom. She definitely puts in the work, and I admire that. I aspire to that type of success with PLG.
