Conversations with Trish Steele

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trish Steele.

Hi Trish, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
As the Founder of Safe Passage Heals, I have been a pioneering voice against domestic violence and abuse. Being a domestic abuse survivor myself, I have rescued thousands of women & children helping them find their life’s purpose and take charge of their destiny. For almost three decades, it has been my mission to transform countless lives through my non-profit organizations.

On January 2020, I attended a vision-board class in Santa Monica. There were twenty attendees participating in this class. As the instructor gave us the inspiration to create a vision board, my mind focused on my life vision. I allowed my spirit to take over this process and lead me to the things that I was to accomplish.

I began with a list of personal goals for myself and then the goals for my non-profits. Ideas began to flow freely and rapidly as I searched through many magazines for images to fit onto my vision board. At completion, my board showed a healthy, peaceful, and enjoyable lifestyle, one of leisure and freedom. It showed a new neighborhood and a place called home. It’s been said, “Write the vision down so that you may run with it,” and that is exactly what I did with the vision board. I was so excited to be the first one to finish my board and to share it with others in the class.

My vision began to manifest the following month, while looking for a new home to move to. I wanted to move somewhere peaceful so I could retire. On March 27, 2020, the COVID pandemic hit California and the entire U.S. So many were in fear of getting sick and possibly dying from COVID. But for me, it brought an urgency to leave Los Angeles. And my family and I did so, on July 1, moving to Westlake Village, a beautiful community.

It was a miracle to find a home during this time, with a landlord that would trust us to pay the high rental fees. During this time, many people lost their jobs, their health, their financial support, and their sanity. The move to Westlake Village was simultaneous with my realizations of the monumental change the world was undergoing change at a level I’d never experienced. It caused a revolution in my mindset, which in turn caused shifting priorities and goals in my life.

I did not realize this was the manifestation of my vision board. From my retirement mindset, I began to hear the Spirit of God speaking to me about a new purpose, even while the world was quaking in heartbreaking ways. These are the exact words that God spoke to my heart:

– I want you to write your life story, a journey of seventy years.
– This book will cover seven decades; each chapter will represent one decade and will include the history of that time in your life.
– There is redemption in each chapter, and it will bring hope to many.
– Your legacy will live forever, and many will embrace it.
– I will bring the right connections to you to bring this all about.

I felt this was impossible to accomplish because of the cost of thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours. “I moved away from the busy city to retire and take life easy. I am content with my life and not interested in another project or adventure,” I responded to God. I took another look at my vision board after seven months and realized that there were more steps, I needed to take to complete my vision. Life is full of surprises and can be very exciting if we follow the guidance of the One who created life to begin with.

So, this year, I accepted God’s assignment, and the results are in the book. “Discover the Mind of Steele”; The invincible journey of 7 decades to becoming ageless, fearless, and divinely connected. This book has been written, to challenge the readers not to give up on their purpose in life, but to embrace what is good so they may live a life of happiness. It’s not how you begin your journey, but how you finish your journey.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As one who has faced plenty of adversities, undergoing the loss of a father, hearing loss, a speech impediment, bullying, domestic abuse, and more throughout my life, I can definitely say that life has not been one without challenges. My new book, “Discover the Mind of Steele” reflects my 7-decade journey. It compiles deeply personal experiences that have made me invincible and fearless – including the pitfalls and the triumphs to bring others to a place of hope and inspiration.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work in the non-profit sector, Safe Passage Heals, started as a shelter for physically abused and emotionally distraught women in my own home. Through years of successful fundraising efforts and with the support of the community, I was able to establish programs that transformed thousands of lives that help to break the cycle of abuse.

Safe Passage Heals grew to become one of the nation’s most successful non-profits with a 95% proven track record of helping domestic violence survivors restart their lives and put them on a path of success and happiness. Our organization is supported by experts from every field, including doctors, dentists, plastic surgeons, counselors, life coaches, career mentors, self-defense instructors and a loving community.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
It has been a life of courage and boldness. I would not be here today to share my story, help countless lives break the cycle of abuse and thriving if it weren’t for an unstoppable spirit that knows no bounds. With great faith guiding me through everything, there’s nothing that could keep me from my life’s purpose.

I am so excited to be able to share my story with the world. I hope that those who come across my book, “Discover the Mind of Steele”, will find themselves believing in their own potential and find freedom from whatever constraints are holding them back!

I encourage you to read it, and share it as a gift:
