Daily Inspiration: Meet Judy Mai

Today we’d like to introduce you to Judy Mai.

Hi Judy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my food journey on Instagram when I got a ton of free time after I took a break from working full-time around 2018. I was traveling a lot during that time and decided to post photos on my social media page. I always love eating out and enjoying new cuisines. I decided I wanted to showcase it through my Instagram for my followers to check out new restaurants. I got where I am today from my supportive friends and meeting new foodies friends online!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a foodie is not always all glamourous. People who view it from the outside think it’s easy because all you do is take a photo and post it on Instagram. There’s a lot of behind scenes to make the photo turn out the way you wanted. Lots of back and forth communications if you are collaborating with a restaurant or brand. Plus it takes time to edit the photo/video, write a prompt, and engage with your audience to get more impressions on your post. Sometimes I do feel burnout with posting before the deadlines, but I balance it by taking a small break from social media.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I mainly specialized in Bay Area food scene and I am proud that I came so far with collaborating with big-name brands and finally get recognized and paid for my work. I am not sure what sets me apart from others, but I feel every content creator is unique to their own style and creations.

What are your plans for the future?
My plan for the future is to eat more food and try new cuisines!! I just love eating and I won’t stop till my wallet starts crying :’)
