Today we’d like to introduce you to Cymone Howard.
Hi Cymone, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
At the start of Covid-19, I was laid off from my job (commercial finance). I’ve always attempted to be a personal trainer because of my years of fitness knowledge and experience. I would usually maintain 2-3 clients, but just as supplemental income as I continued to work my full-time job. I had a childhood friend that I trained previously reach out to me for training; at this time, I had no current clients. Being newly unemployed, I took personal training as a full-time job and never looked back. Shortly after, I turned my career into a passion and started C.Howfitness, LLC. My business quickly planted itself in the affluent city of Laguna Beach, CA. Over the last two years, I have had the opportunity to expand my platform, support, and clientele from as far as Long Beach to San Diego. With this broad spectrum of opportunities, I have established C.Howfitness as a sanctuary for those who are looking to create a lifestyle change.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve always believed that anything in life worth having never comes easy. Starting a business was a dream of mine but of course, there were struggles along the way. The transition from commercial finance to entrepreneurship was by far the biggest struggle but through believing in myself and never giving up, the business became successful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about C.howfitness?
I run a personal training business, both in person and online. My sessions are composed of HITT-style workouts, weight lifting, and cardio training. Along with fitness, I also help my clients learn and understand food and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle with nutrition, all in moderation. Of course, fitness and nutrition are the foundation of any healthy lifestyle and as a trainer, it is my job to educate my clients on these elements but one major component that I like to bring awareness to is mental health and happiness. Making a lifestyle change for the better is not always easy. As I coach my clients through their health goals, I always assure to strengthen their mental platform throughout the process. Along with my in-person training, I also have a full online fitness and nutrition program. My online coaching mirrors my in-person training as I like to give my online clients a duplication of my in-person just virtually.
One of my first clients was a young down syndrome boy from Laguna Beach and without knowing what to expect, he quickly became one of my favorite clients to work with. You ask what I specialize in, I’d like to say that I specialize in working with all walks of life. It has truly been an honor to work with the Down syndrome community and I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to better their lives.
As the owner of C.HOW FITNESS, I always have my doors open to anyone who wants to start their journey of health and fitness. Whether someone is a young athlete wanting to improve their skills or an adult who is simply wanting to stay healthy for their future. My brand and business have never judged nor turned down a client due to superficial reasonings. Everyone has their own story and we all start somewhere; it is my job to create a comfortable and uplifting community for my clients.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
As any business is commencing there are always small details that have to be attended to or ironed out, I credit my fiance’ for being the glue to C.howfitness. As I have become the face, the social marketer, and the relationship builder, my fiance’ has run the business from behind the scenes assuring that advertisement, monthly stats, and management requirements are all being met. She also is the driving force toward propelling C.howfitness to the next level and offering our services to many more by continuously keeping her eyes open to where else we can assist and help within our community.
