Exploring Life & Business with India Kern

Today we’d like to introduce you to India Kern.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ten years ago, I found myself completely devastated and heartbroken by an unwanted divorce. Stuck in my pain, I remained “underwater” for far too long. My mindset prevented me from moving forward, and like most people facing divorce, I didn’t have a clue how to navigate the new norm. The stress of divorce was compromising my health, my decision-making, and my self-esteem.

Eventually, I learned I had a choice – I could either get “bitter” or get “better” after divorce.

I chose to get “better” and be empowered by my story. I became the guide I did not have back in the early days of divorce. As a Certified Divorce Coach, I specialize in working with people who are caught off guard by divorce.

My message is simple, your marriage may be over but your life is not. I believe everyone has the ability to create an extraordinary life after divorce, but it won’t just happen, you must design it.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I have had my fair share of bumps in the road, but I’m grateful for the lessons that followed. One lesson is the importance of investing in your emotional health during stressful times. It’s quite common to place your emotional well-being on the back burner during divorce, but it’s an investment you cannot afford to ignore.

I also learned divorce can wreck self-esteem, and a poor self-image can destroy your life, but self-image can ALWAYS be improved. Coaching helps a woman recognize her self-worth so she has the confidence to move forward in life.

Mindset is another important lesson and a huge aspect of coaching. Whatever one focuses on expands, so that’s more reason to audit your thoughts and conquer a negative mindset. That’s something I do with my clients.

In short, the obstacles that tripped me up in my past have helped me be a better coach to my clients.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As a Certified Divorce Coach, I minimize the “overwhelm” of divorce by helping with:
• Emotional support
• Preparation for the business of divorce
• Devising a game plan

As a result, my clients feel confident that they are making wise, informed decisions regarding their divorce. I feel most proud when a client says to me, “You changed my life and my view of the future.”

I also wrote a book called “Surviving the Unwanted Divorce”. It details my personal journey to forgiveness.

For anyone interested in my coaching, I offer a free consultation. Schedule your free session on my calendar below and see if coaching is a fit for you.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If you’re contemplating divorce and don’t know what direction to take, I can help. I also work with people on the fence about divorce. I never promote divorce and if I can help save a marriage then that is the ultimate goal. Unfortunately, sometimes divorce is inevitable.

My advice to a person facing divorce is, lean on the professionals who can help you. Most people do not understand the complexities of divorce. That’s why it’s critical to invest in yourself and create a team of professionals who can make the process a little bit easier.

If I could go back in time, I would have hired a divorce coach. It would have saved me time and boatloads of money. Instead of using my attorney for emotional support, I could have used a divorce coach.

If you’re feeling stuck, you need another set of eyes (and ears) to weigh in on your situation because we do not reach clarity alone. Together, we can unpack the issues and obstacles tripping you up and make a game plan for you to follow.
