Meet Jessica Ziegler of Z Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Ziegler.

Hi Jessica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a graduate from SDSU in kinesiology/pre-physical therapy, I set off to help clients with injury rehabilitation in a physical therapy setting. After having two children, I became interested in postpartum rehab and creating a place where mothers with small children could go to learn about exercises that were safe to perform after having children.

I started my business Z FITNESS, when my first daughter was 2 1/2 years old and my second daughter was only three months old. My classes are held at a park where the children can play with each other, and the moms benefit physically, mentally and are provided an environment to socialize. Motherhood is tough and can feel lonely as a new mom. After just a few months, I realized the importance of my class for not just my clients but also for myself. This community I started three years ago has sparked so many friendships and allowed moms to show their strengths!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting Z FITNESS has been fantastic! There are always unknowns when starting something new, but going at it with a vision, realistic expectations, and persistence sets you up for success. If I can help just one person, then it’s a success. I have had large classes and classes where just one person showed up and realized, either way. I am doing what I love. On top of that, there are so many other opportunities that have presented themselves through my classes.

I am now a personal trainer, exercise content creator, and a friend that can help with prenatal and postpartum exercise questions! COVID did create a setback in my business. I shut down for three months and am still having clients trickling back to class. On the flip side, shutting down opened my eyes to a part of training I had never considered. I now have personal training clients in different states that I train via ZOOM. I am a firm believer of making the best out of a bad situation. My heart goes out to those that have been devastated by COVID.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Z Fitness?
My business focuses on postpartum exercises and making fitness your lifestyle. It is important as a mom to take care of your health and when fitness is your lifestyle, your fitness goals follow suite. I am known for proving HIIT, functional training, and circuit training workouts that are intense and provide a high-calorie burn that is safe for prenatal and postpartum bodies. I always say, “Any exercise can be modified to fit your needs”.
