Exploring Life & Business with Kathrin Mae

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathrin Mae.

Hi Kathrin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This story is dedicated to my grandpa, who never gave up on his dreams for his family, and achieved everything with only a 4th-grade level education! He owned multiple businesses in the Philippines and the U.S. With hard work and sacrifice, he brought his family to the U.S. and created an opportunity for us to live our best lives. Reminder: Don’t let adversity and circumstance, allow you to quit on your dreams and goals. Keep going. You could be one that breaks generational poverty, curses and instead creates legacy.

I believe the reason why we tell our story by bringing up our roots is because we must never forget where it all started. The long lineage and family history. The traditions and stories of our ancestors. And not only from our genes, history, culture but even down to our mental health, spiritual, physical traits, passions, and ambitions. We will understand ourselves so much more if we did.

Raised by two immigrant parents that also became U.S. veterans. They did the best with what they had, and I am grateful. I was always first an artist, since age 4, and then years later a passionate writer. My first business was in the creative arts; it is what I thrived on. But then I had my first taste of entrepreneurship and sales in my early 20s. I became more than hooked. I joined the MLM world, grabbed a hold of any business mentorship groups I could get into, and attended live events by the greatest motivational speakers like Jim Rohn, Les Brown, Robert Kiyosaki, and Tony Robbins. I fell in love with learning how to run my own side hustle, but also the “chase” of having the big dream life. That’s when I knew I wanted to create generational wealth for my parents and the entire family line, but little did I know the amount of inner work I had to do. Nor did I know what that inner work would be. It’s not just about learning the craft and skill sets but digging deeper into ourselves and facing the hardest challenges of all, our own demons.

As stories go, here came the many trials and tribulations. The universe has a funny way…of showing you the way. I was a young, emotional rollercoaster, working on my day job in a dental office, while learning from other businesses and entrepreneurs, on the side. I realized over the span of those 10+ years that if you do not understand that you MUST do the inner work (learning, but healing, growing while taking action, and focusing on the growth mindset), you will lose yourself over and over in the process.

With my certification in Hatha Yoga in 2014, I slowly implemented “mindset” tools in my business life throughout the next years, but I still did not understand how to move through my challenges and most of all my emotions and failures. I needed to implement a full-force growth mindset “mentality”, through the journey in the downfalls as much as the achievements.

So, I experienced situations that I loved and took snapshots in my mind of, but also faced things I would not wish on anyone, not even my enemies. I was sacrificing the passions that I loved for what I thought I was “supposed” to do with my life. There was always a feeling of an empty void in everything I tried to accomplish, then my daughter was born.

In the beginning of 2020, I went through one of the hardest times of my life, much like a lot of us did that year. I became a single mother with my 1.5-year-old. I packed 2 small luggages, one with anything I could grab left from the laundry, and the other with clean diapers.

I left a career, close friends, moved back to my hometown in San Diego, and the pandemic hit the month right after. We were blessed to have a home with my aunts and family. But I was also grieving for my old life. I felt like I lost everything and, most of all, myself. One night as my daughter slept soundly next to me, I cried my heart out. Not just because of the sudden situation and downfall but I whispered to her. I promised I would make every single dream happen for us as I wrote a note to myself on my cell phone. The list of things I wanted to accomplish for us in the next year, from having our own space, a vehicle to get everywhere we needed to, to enroll her in the best classes, to travel, to create a business from home, so I could spend quality time with my daughter while working from anywhere.

And in a year, I made every single thing on my list happen!

I made a decision. Making a decision is about “cutting off” choices – cutting you off from some other course of action. I was done working for someone else and climbing the 9-5 ladder. But most of all, done with the feeling of not living my full potential and not living my life purpose. It was time to build my own dreams. So, I built a clothing brand, at the same time, I was building a coaching business that soon became a full-blown digital agency.

I have built a brand and was able to utilize my skill sets from a writer, creative artist, certified yogi into a CEO, founder, and designer of my own clothing brand. I am able to spend quality time with my daughter whenever I want without someone micromanaging my time, money, and energy. I can focus on the things that I love and are passionate about while making as much as I want. But most of all, I can build my own dreams rather than working full-time to build someone else’s.

I am incredibly grateful that I have met a supportive partner in me and my daughter’s life that has shown me that a healthy loving relationship exists and what unconditional love truly is. To be an absolute example of what it’s like to be supportive and believe in your partner’s dreams while prioritizing family first.

Thank you to all of my loving family, who I can honestly say have always been there through my entire life journey, and continually been my strength. My amazing mentors these past 2 years, who have pushed me to continually build my empire and never give up. And grandpa for paving the path. Because of you grandpa, I know now where my passion-driven personality comes from, and because of that;

I can. I will. I must. I am ready to build the next legacy.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but also, I am very grateful for the journey. We remind ourselves to love the process, and I know it can be hard to sit in gratitude when everything feels like it’s falling apart. But know that when those moments happen, they are a lesson, or could be a strong message, or most of all it could be a pivotal, groundbreaking moment in our lives. It could be the very reason we needed to pivot, adapt, find belief, and even discover beauty in darkness. Embracing the dark and the light of ourselves. Because that will be one of many reasons why we are stronger, more resilient, smarter, brilliant than ever. To learn what we need to unlearn and what we need to rise above and conquer.

We’ve been impressed with Kathrin Mae LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been told by friends, family, and testimonials from clients that I create a safe space to feel heard and supported. That I empower through my deep passion for life, belief in all that you want and dream to do, and I help build an unshakable belief within you. Sometimes it just takes that one person to fully believe in you.

From clients that are building from ground zero, having minimal knowledge of how to start, to clients that have multiple businesses, degrees, and certifications,

I have guided them through not only authentically building and leveling up in their business and personal life but to fully embody their inner-superhero powers, growth mindset, and CEO mentality.

I currently run a “One-Stop-Shop” digital marketing and consulting agency with an incredibly supportive team because it does take a village!

We are inspired and moved through telling the stories of business owners and entrepreneurs by not only providing social media, marketing, design, and consulting services but encouraging them to embrace the process from beginning to end. We love dream-building with our clients!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I believe that “luck,” good or bad may present different paths for us. But if you look back on all the things that happened or didn’t happen, they led us to where we are today. And regardless, it was an experience we get to choose to let it make us or break us. In the end, we have the power to make decisions that could very much be life-changing, good, or bad. But we get to make that decision every single second of every single day. Use your intuition, make the best decisions with your heart and soul, but take your brain with you.
