Exploring Life and Business with Rachael Tran of The Cookie Crew

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachael Tran.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always had a love for baking. Some of my favorite memories are licking the cookie dough off the paddle with my mom. After a few years of college, I found myself wanting to go to culinary school. I jumped right in without letting myself second guess it, as I do with most things in my life. After graduating culinary school, I was lucky enough to work in some great bakeries in Orange County.

Not long after, I became a mom and well you know, things shifted. I started doing confections from my home, but when the second and third baby came, it was pushed to the back burner. Then 2020 hits. I have an eight months old and decided now was the time to get back to it! Once I decided, I hit the ground running (yes, jumping before thinking). I started immediately testing cookies, and a couple of weeks later, The Cookie Crew was born! Named lovingly after that sweet little eight months old.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing comes without some struggles, right? I’m blessed with amazing customers and surrounded by a community of people that love supporting small businesses. My biggest struggles come along with my title as a mom. Running a business from home is challenging in itself. Add in three littles, virtual learning, and the stressors of 2020 and I could be a walking commercial for coffee.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Cookie Crew?
The Cookie Crew is bringing larger than life cookies with four weekly flavors, so your taste buds never get bored! What’s so amazing about these cookies is the size, the unique flavors, they’re made in small batches and using only the best ingredients. You won’t find anything like lard and cheap ingredients in these!

I love baking so much because I love giving others happiness. When these cookies resonate a memory or a loved one, it’s the best part of my day. I work very hard to find the flavors that are going to bring a smile to their face.

What matters most to you?
In my business, it’s absolutely creating a cookie community with my customers. Food is directly connected to emotions, and if I can make someone else happy, even for a moment, that’s all I need.

  • Giant Cookies – $4.50 each
  • Mini’s – $1.50 each
  • Gluten Free Mini’s – $1.75 (sugar & chocolate chip)
