Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheri Jones.
Sheri, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been in Real Estate for eight years now, and it kind of just fell in my lap. I was an accounting director for a property management company, and my boss was like, “I’m going to start a Real estate company, and you should get your license” I said sure. In 2012, as long as you had a bachelor’s degree, you could automatically get your Broker’s license, so bam, I became an instant Broker. Although Real Estate wasn’t my thing as I was solely focused on accounting, I made it work.
In 2020, as I was still in my accounting position, I decided to leave corporate America and focus solely on Real Estate. Within a couple of months, my business completely took off. In addition to Real Estate and accounting, I co-founded an organization called Black San Diego with a childhood friend. We created a platform to support black-owned businesses in San Diego as we saw a need and wanted to ignite change and we did just that. We have a platform of 40k+ people between Facebook and Instagram, and it continues to grow daily. I’ve been able to merge my Real Estate career with Black San Diego by empowering my community through homeownership and creating generational wealth.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. As much as I love accounting, I was discriminated by my employer and forced into a full-time Real estate career. It was and still is a painful experience, but I know I am exactly where God wanted me to be. Also, managing a large platform as Black San Diego is very time-consuming, but it’s rewarding to see my community grow. A lot of life lessons make you stronger. Do you fold or do you stand firm. I am still standing!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I started S.A.K.K Realty in 2017. Its name after myself and my daughters: Sheri, Amya, Keira, Kayla. I wanted to create something that stood for family, love, and togetherness and I built just that. We specialize in buying, selling, and educating on building generational wealth through homeownership. I don’t want you to buy a home; I want you to learn how to buy a home.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
The Sheri Village deserves all the credit. My village consists of God, my daughters, my husband, my bonus kids, my family, my friends, my life coach, my mentor, just anyone that pours love into me and my business. It truly takes a village to raise an adult.
