Meet Vasanthy Ravindran of Rite Click Learning Point

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vasanthy Ravindran.

Hi Vasanthy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi all, Thank you for giving me an opportunity to introduce myself and my business here in this platform for the readers.

My name is Vasanthy Ravindran and I moved to US about 20 years ago as an IT professional, and turned into a businesswoman in 2012. I have an MS in Mathematics and a diploma in Computer Application.

About my family, We are a small family living in Rancho Penasquitos. I have a son who just graduated from WestView High School. My dedicated focus to his education paved the way to choose a career path focused on providing assistance to other kids who need help in meeting the standards of the educational needs. My detailed research has included volunteering activities at my son’s school, caused me to conclude that the teachers are challenged with the large number of kids in the classroom. This results in teachers not being able to pay attention to each and every kid in the class. This, in turn, makes the kids only have a certain amount of understanding about the subjects and limits their interest towards their studies. This was my motivation to start a learning center offering different activities after school. Once I made my decision, I resigned my job and started the center with the help of one of my son’s teacher. This is my 9th year in business and I am completely satisfied with what I am doing to the parents and kids. I have noticed significant improvements in the students grades’ and also in their study habits if they follow our small instructions. Our tutors and I always keep a constant touch with the parents and kids to ensure that their goals are attained.

My Experience: Eight years of working as a software consultant in Detroit, Chicago and Napa. Three years of volunteering in the schools, helping kids in Math. 9+ years of managing the learning center.

Our tutoring company is an independently owned business, and so we have the flexibility to change our method of teaching to help each and every student reach their goal at their own pace. We put in our efforts to see the outcome in our students and always try to improve ourselves to do justice to the students and parents who put their trust in us. We always believe that the child shows interest in the subjects, only if the subjects are taught in a way that interests him. So tutors play an important role in it. A friendly tutor, who can bend down to the level of the child and teach him, is the key factor in this. We always try to bring a friendly and positive vibe during the class so that the child shows interest to come back to the next class.

Our center is on the Activity Road, very close to the Miramar military base . We are expanding our business to provide after-school activities for elementary school students by providing help in understanding their homework and also providing classes in other areas like arts, coding, crafts etc. We are planning to pick-up the kids from nearby schools in the next academic year . We are looking forward to provide our services at a very affordable rate to help the parents in need.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has never been a smooth journey from the time I started the business. While I was volunteering in the schools, I knew that lot of kids needed help. But reaching the parents was always a very difficult process. I have spent a lot of money in advertisements which did not bring the business. I have spent my weekends driving around the neighborhoods, passing out flyers and putting the H bar on different road intersections. Lot of times, thought it was a bad idea of doing this business leaving a corporate job. But within me, something was forcing me to continue with what I was doing. Struggled a lot and there were months without any business too. After 3 years, the business started reaching parents slowly.

So then I understood not to worry too much about anything and just be honest on what we do and continue. Business grew on the word of mouth and I am always grateful to my parents that they were always a great encouragement to me. Until this day we have parents who are referring their friends and families to us. Last year was a challenging year for everyone and it was a struggle to find tutors to work with families for helping the kids at their home. It was a wonderful experience in knowing lots of new families, understanding the kid’s struggle in doing the online classes and helping them in whatever way we could. I visited most of the parents, in-person at their houses to see how things are going with the kids. We have given some free classes for some families too.

As you know, we’re big fans of Rite Click Learning Point. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are an independently owned learning center providing after-school activities to the kids who are in need of additional help in math, English reading and writing, and other subjects as well as helping them in their homework. We have tutors who are well experienced and they help the kids at our center. Also we are doing in-home tutoring for the last two years and also provide experienced tutors for your group if needed. All our tutors are background checked and they are ready to go.

Our online classes started during the pandemic are going on successfully. We have classes for elementary, middle and high school students for all the subjects.

We have kinder-ready program running at our center for 4 year old and up and you will be amazed at the way how they are progressing. We have a unique method of teaching the little ones and they enjoy our classes and learn very fast.

We are specialized in providing academic classes, and we give more importance to the academics and the progress of the child in school. We do assessment at the end of each topic and see how the child progress before moving on to the next topic. We always ask the parents to connect with us and talk to us if they have any concerns and will always be available to answer their calls. Saturdays/Sundays are also open if any students need help.

We are different from others in the way we communicate with the parents and always keep a very close touch with them. While the tutors work with the kids, I will make it sure that the parents are happy with the classes. We always give 100% money-back guarantee if the child doesn’t show any improvement in 8 sessions if classes are taken regularly and homework completed before their next class. This shows our confidence in what we are doing.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
San Diego, is one of the best city to live in because of the weather, outdoor activities, parks, beaches, different amusement parks, etc., we can add a lot about San Diego. It is a city where lots of people from other parts of the country are just wishing to come and get settled here. To enjoy all these, we pay more. The city is more expensive and there are lots of traffic because of the new constructions everywhere.
