Exploring Life & Business with Victoria Ramos of Sweets by Victoria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Ramos.

Hi Victoria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have loved baking for as long as I can remember, I was always baking in the kitchen with my grandma or mom especially during the holidays. As I got older I would experiment a lot in the kitchen and try different treats out on my family and friends. There is nothing better than making others happy with my creations.

In high school, I made the decision that I wanted to be a baker and one day have my own bakery. I began my culinary journey right away, by enrolling in baking classes during my senior year of high school. I continued my education in culinary arts throughout college, graduating with an Associate Science Degree in Culinary Arts. During my culinary journey, I became more health conscious leading me down a plant based path which made vegan baking even more intriguing. As my personal health journey headed away from animal products, I then reflected that into my business, Sweets by Victoria, making it a 100% Vegan Bakery. My goal for Sweets by Victoria is to share with others that vegan baked goods are just as delicious, if not better, then pastries baked with milk, butter, and eggs.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I think one of the hardest things for me with starting my own business was breaking out of my comfort zone. I have always been a shy person so the thought of putting myself out there and sharing my baked goods with others, besides my friends and family, was terrifying but I knew it would be rewarding.

I began to realize that in order for me to get where I want with my business I would have to break out of the fearful, overthinking mindset and go for it! I am fortunate to have an amazing amount of support from my family and friends that believe in me and push me to break out of comfort zone.

This year especially, I have broke out of my shell and have taken up opportunities that have connected me with a lot of new people and other small business owners. I will continue to flow and grow with my business knowing that this journey will not always be easy but will rewarding knowing I am going after my passion.

Sweets by Victoria is an online based bakery specializing in vegan baked goods here in San Diego, CA. I offer local pick up, delivery, and nationwide shipping. You can also find me attending as a vendor at local markets and pop ups throughout San Diego.

I love baking cookies, brownies, breads, etc., especially anything involving chocolate, nuts or fresh fruit. Ingredients play a major role in my personal life and my baking style, everything I use is always non-gmo, soy free, and as organic as possible. My baking style is simple, natural, and rustic. I love to create unique flavor combinations such as, Homemade Organic Blueberry Lavender Jam Oat Bars that are gluten free as well as vegan or my Cardamom Pistachio Rose Babka that is almost too beautiful to eat. Florals are one of my favorite ingredients to bake with as well as using for decoration. I offer vegan gluten free options as well and I am always open to new ideas from customers on what to create next.

Another important value for my business is being low waste and as plastic free as possible. If you ever attend one of my pop ups you will see that I offer Chai Cold Brew Lattes and Gluten-Free Granola in reusable glass jars rather than plastic cups or bags. I am now offering Sweets by Victoria customized reusable bamboo straws which are always great to keep in your purse or car for when you’re getting drinks on the go!

I have many ideas and goals for Sweets by Victoria, and I am just getting started, I cannot wait to see where this journey takes me.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Alongside my vegan bakery business, I am working towards becoming a Certified Vegan Nutritionist, combining my love for cooking and living a healthier lifestyle. I am planning to finish my certification by the end of this year and I hope you all follow along with me to see what is yet to come!
