Exploring Life & Business with Yoko Tajima of the Power Imaging™

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yoko Tajima.

Hi Yoko, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

As a child in Japan, I was enchanted with fashion styling. I always dreamed of opening a boutique of my own.  Ever since I was 14, I started working in the TV, film, and commercial industry assisting my sister with fashion styling hundreds of celebrities in Tokyo.

While studying Fashion Business at a university in London, I was disappointed to discover that fashion didn’t fulfill my heart. I went through a difficult time and moved to the States. I returned to business school and studied Transpersonal Psychology and Counseling. When people started asking me for business support, I spent time coaching on mindset and marketing strategies.

I met an image consultant in 2011. I wasn’t interested in focusing on my appearance because it seemed superficial, but I wanted to make a change in my life so I followed the advice. It was magical.

As I gained confidence, I started attracting people around me who felt inspired and wanted support that led to me getting my own license. I felt called to help people feel seen and bridge the gap between their outer image and inner essence. I integrated fashion, psychology, and image typing to develop the Power Imaging™ Method that uncovers people’s inner essence. This method analyzes which Element Type you belong to and how that plays a role in the physical, mental, and emotional parts of yourself. I’ve become a sought-after image consultant transforming the lives of clients across the globe.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

I have had tough times. While I studied Fashion Business in London and discovered that fashion couldn’t fulfill my heart. Disappointed and suffering from panic attacks, I moved to LA when I got married and started my healing journey. Despite living with a bright high blue sky, beautiful beaches, and cheerful people, I felt lost and miserable for not being able to enjoy my life.

With powerful support from amazing people we met in LA, we could overcome one of the most challenging times. These difficult experiences led me to find my calling, to empower people to step into their greatness and reveal who they truly are.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

More than 80% of first impressions are based on your appearance. A common misconception is falling into dressing how you think you “should” versus what really accentuates your unique beauty. Whether you find yourself hiding behind your clothes like an armor of protection or you’re not feeling aligned with your existing image, I’m here to help you uncover the element style that will harmonize with you.

After 17 years of consulting for thousands of leaders, artists, and organizations, I’ve discovered a common theme for success. Defining your own charismatic and dynamic style based on your unique element is key. Seeing over 3,000 of my clients transform their lives from the inside out, like I did, is what I live for!

After I Incorporated PlatinumBox, Inc. in LA, I’ve also developed the Power Imaging Association in Tokyo to educate people on how to dress and best express themselves. Japanese culture focuses on hiding ourselves instead of standing out. With my passion for leaning into our unique essence, I teach people that we don’t have to be perfect. Instead, we should embrace our personalities, express our authentic selves, and show off our gifts.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?

I had no choice but to change our lifestyle as an entrepreneur and a mom of two in the COVID-19 crisis. We learned to be more creative in having fun at home by changing our home decor and creating a home gym; we also welcomed five small pets to our family!

I shifted most of our services to online for my business and started leading webinars. Due to the influence of pandemics, online meetings have increased dramatically all over the world. Many people have shared how hard it is to build trust and business relationships when we meet people online. One of the highest demands of our webinar themes is “Trust Begins with First Impressions: 3 Steps to Brand Your Appearance on Video Calls”
